I really love the idea of doing a sweet buffet and have looked at a couple and decided it is something I could do myself. I have plenty of bowls, jars etc that I can source from family so will just need to buy scoops, paper bags etc from the bay. Was just wondering if anyone has done their own and roughly how much the sweets costs?

H2B is against the idea as he thinks children will be running round throwing up everywhere... when I am sure it will be the adults. So I am trying to find a price that he can't say no to. I had so many ideas when we first got engaged such as photobooth, singing waiters etc that I have dropped due to cost so I am just going to use my powers of persuasion until I get a positive response. (Can't help thinking this is the MIL2be's thoughts and not h2b...sometimes she controls him like a puppet on a string - mini rant over!)

Hi, I too am doing a diy candy buffet. Ive bought jars, bowls ect.... From various places, 99p, I kea, the green supermarket, charity shops £10 altogether I spent. I bought my pink and white stripe bags off the bay 100 for something stupid like £1 and will get scoops from there and buy some pink ribbon for the scoops. I plan to get the sweets from mak ro which I plan to spend around £40-£50, if you know someone with a card, they have a website you can browse. That is to cater for 100 people. Quite reasonable as will act as favours and the stripe bags act as place settings with names on which they then use for there mix up.

my brother and sister in law recently celebrated there 25th anniversary with a vow renewal and they had a massive sweet buffet theres pics on the forum somewhere anyway there was at least 15 children if not more and not one of them was sick from over eating sweets in actual fact the kids were really good went and filled there bags i think it was more the adults that pigged out lol so i wouldn't worry about them making them selfs sick and they had loads for sweets left over. my kids didn't finish their bags and we ended up taking them home.
