I don't really mind people having an idea of what I might be wearing. I'm not hugely secretive about it. I was taking them down but people kept commenting on them.

Anyway, about 75% of the people coming to the wedding aren't on Facebook and about 50% of those who are barely ever look at it. So there are only about 15 people coming to the actual ceremony who'll know what I'm looking like.

I'm doing the entirety of both shoes. The only bits I'm not going to do are the underside of the insteps. Even then I'm putting blue crystals on the underside to spell out "Mrs H-H"

I'm just trying to break it up into little sections so that every time I finish a bit I feel like I've made real progress.

More updates. I've now done the front of the other shoe.

I'm hoping that I can finish them by the end of next week, so I'm going to have to order more crystals and more glue!

Fronts completed.

With just 3 of 4 sides of the fronts done.

They are looking brilliant. Will the straps work if they are covered? Just thinking if you do them up to the part you fasten them what would the ends look like? Would it look unfinished? Just a thought anyway!

I've realised that I can get the shoes off and on without undoing the straps, so I can completely cover them and they'll be merely decorative. :D

One back finished.

I stopped for a little while as I ran out of glue and, while I did buy a replacement, it wasn't any good. I ordered more of the original glue and enough crystals to complete the shoes so I'm now back on track and should finish the light red colour this week.

I've now finished the major areas of light red on both shoes and the little gaps and straps of one of them (which takes a lot longer than it sounds like it would).

They are beautifully made. I rebuilt my shoes on UpperStreet and they've gone up in price by £100 since March, though. I think they're definitely still worth it. I'm sure I got a bargain (as they did custom heels for me - 3.5" chunky platform).

SS.... all in all how long did it take to do these and how much did it roughly cost. Im doing these to mine but sadly they wont be Ruby Slipped *sniff sniff* lol....mine are going to be royal blue. Ive already bought 1500 3, 4 & 5mm rhinestones, just gotta get glue. Which glue would you recommend and what did you use to pick up the rhinestone and place it on to the shoe?!

Not a problem, Kimberlee1. I've used nearly 8000 1.8mm, 2.2mm, 3.2mm, 4mm and 5mm crystals very, very tight together. I used a silicon based fabric cement that comes in a tube with a needle tip. I got gem setters to place the stones, but found that using the wax left a residue on the crystals, so I used a dot of fabric cement on the non-wax end to pick them up instead.
