    Hi all,

I know lots of people are interested in photobooths so I thought I'd share an idea that I stole this weekend!

We went to a wedding and the couple had made their own photobooth!!! They had a digital camera on a tripod aimed at a decorative sheet-thing as the back ground. There was a table next to it with a variety of fancy dress accessories, including a big picture frame. It was loads of fun, and looked really easy to set up. Also far far cheaper than paying for a photobooth. Also this way they get all of the photos digitally.

I thought it was an awesome idea and worth sharing :)

I was wondering about doing this kind of thing myself as I love the idea of a photobooth but can't afford it in the budget. Have you seen any of the pictures yet? My concern would be that I would spend time setting it up and that once everyone was drunk there wouldn't be very many worthwhile pictures. Also I had wondered about giving people copies of the pictures. Do you know if the Bride gave copies of the pictures to the guests? I guess you could maybe send them with thank you cards.

We have gone for something like this. We wanted a photo booth but was shocked at the price for just a few hours. Craziness!!

For the whole night we have company that pretty much does this. Has a back drop and all the props and therefore bigger group pictures and have the for the whole night. They also provide 2 people to take pics/encourage the service and all pictures will be on a DVD/CD and online for guests to download.

This has cost us half the price of a photobooth

I want to do this! Can't decide if I want to ask my SIL to stand and take pics for an hour, which she is happy to do or to leave the camera, I'd be worried it would get damaged, or worse - stolen!
I trust my family and friends but what if a 'plus one' or one of the staff nicked it xxx

    We're doing our own too!

I like the vintage style props like the simple moustaches and hats and hearts on sticks... so I'm gonn amake some of those which will cost PENCE! I even have the stuff just kicking about in general so don't need to buy anything!

Also we're using an iPad on a tripod so we get the whole front facing camera experience with a touch screen and then we're going to stream the images to a projection so people can see them through the night! We're not printing them but we will upload them to an online portal after the wedding or theoughout... depending on how easy that will be technically. Probably facebook, although I don't have a facebook account! The iPad is insured and we will make sure it just has the one app on it (free photobooth) for the night! We're also gonna put a 3hour restriction on it so we can lock it up safely before everyone gets toooo drunk and silly to prevent any damage and the hassle of an insurance claim!

I think people are generally trustworthy so wouldn't steal the camera. But you could ask a BM to be responsible for putting the camera away at some point in the evening. I haven't seen any of the pictures as I don't know either of the couple! I was my fiancé's plus one. But you could FaceB them easily, and I really love the idea of sending them with thank you cards!!

I think we'll definitely do this. Feeling bad for putting some photobooth companies out of business though... hehe :)

I wouldn't feel bad for putting photobooth companies out of business! If they didn't charge crazy prices we wouldn't be thinking of doing DIY :)

December where having so many painted with words and some of them are black board paint for personal messages. I just cant justify paying up to £450 for a photo booth when its cost me £50 for a ton of props and everyone will have a camera or camera phone which means we can get bigger group shots :) xx

I absolutely love this idea!! I always wanted a photo booth but couldn't afford one, but now I can. What do you think would be best getting disposable cameras or a cheap digital camera?

I'd say a cheap digital camera as it will have more shots on it than a disposable, also people will have their own cameras too so you can still get some really great pics without forking out hundreds of £ xx

Try using little chalk boards - you can get your guests to write funny or nice messages, then take photos of them holding the boards :-) It can make a lovely collage of photos in your album.

We're hoping to do a photobooth and wanted to make our props ourselves! The photographers are charging extortionate prices for this which i find ridiculous so i'm loving the idea of camera/ipod on a tripod! xxx

The big green, bum slapping supermarket currently has some of their little fancy dress things on sale. I got a pack of 4 animal masks for £1 today :) I plan to slowly stock up on props for the next few months.

    Hi ladies!
Just found an awesome idea for this.
You can get digital Polaroid cameras, so it's a digital camera but you can print from it too. They are £170 which is still pricey but better than £450 for someone else to take the pictures and you can keep the camera, use it for honeymoon!
Means guests can take a few pictures, chose one to print but we get to see every single picture afterwards! Best of both worlds! :)
Me and OH are going to buy one as we need a camera anyway.

    Yaaaay

    Xxx
