Hi all Just trying to work out whether it's best to DIY invites or have them done professionally. I've had a quote of £250 for 70 invites and it sounds abit steep. What have you guys paid for either diy or someone to do them? Tia x

We paid £70 for all the bits to make invites, stds, table plan, table names, orders of service, children's activity packs.

I d.i.y 'd my own Save the dates- log slices £10.00 for 50. - ink £0.89 - Stamps £2.80 - parcel string £4.50 INVITES- Card x50 £3.80 - White paper £0.90 Spray glue- £8.00 crystals- £0.50 Left over hessian from another project
If youre savvy and buy cheaper alternatives from china early like the delivery times are crazy so you need to buy them asap you can save tonnes of money. I think£200 is a crazy quote! Mind you I dont know how many invites you need.

That's expensive. V15t@pr1nt is way cheaper. I got all mine for less than half that for more invites.

It depends on what sort of invite you're looking to make. We've got our invite with 4 inserts for about than £100 and that's with the envelopes (which form part of the invite) and the template which we got from Et$y, that's for 120 odd invites. That price seems very steep though - I would definitely suggest making your own if you have the time and patience to do it - or get the bridesmaids to help out!
I've just brought all our invites from a seller on the Bay, 80 for £50. They are one sided with basic info coz I have created a free personalised web site with G€tt1ng M@rr1€d.Co. uk where the guests can log in and find all the information and more about our day. No need for inserts or RSVPs as they can do it all via the page. Originally planned on spending over £300 on fancy invites!

Well i was quoted nearly £650 for 100 invites in the style i wanted making them myself ment they cost less than £100

We made all of ours ourselves - worked out MAHOOSIVELY cheaper and it was a lot of fun doing them too! xxxx

Yes it really does depend on design, also depends on how creative you are and if you have the time to make invites snd how many- I said to OH he should make our invites as he has made some cool ones before when we hat a new year eve party but he said he just hasn't got the time to do 75 so wears just getting some made

Thanks for responses, I was looking at the folding invites with the information cards inside. Think I'll have a go at diy. Got plenty of time as getting married July next year so if I fail I'll have time to buy haha. Is there some software you would need to buy for the design of invites do you think?

I'm DIYing mine, will be doing my save the dates this weekend will try to snap a photo on how they turn out to give you an idea, you can save a lot of money diying them

It was definitely cheaper for me to make mine rather than buy them. I spent about £30 in total to make around 20 or so invitations. Mine were quite simple though as well - we had 4 x inserts, which were all tied up using twine into a "parcel" and just slotted into an envelope. I designed them using a design programme I use at work and used the printer/ink at work, so literally only had to pay for the card, envelopes, twine, keys and "you're invited" stickers we used to seal the envelopes.

We spent £70 roughly to get an 3tsy template and enough card etc to do around 70 invites in a pocket fold design with 5 inserts. They're all handmade (even the envelopes!) and it was fun to do. The only thing I would say would be to either borrow or splash out and get a guillotine to save you a LOT of cutting! Best thing is, all the guests are shocked when we say that we have handmade them. It's taken me around 3 months, but I haven't had much time to get them done. If you had two weeks where you had nothing planned and you had time off work you could probably have them all completely finished.

It depends on how arty and creative you are as well. I am so not any of those so I got them made, but it was through someone I know so she did give me a small discount, I think I paid about £60 for about 100 invites with RSVPs and then I paid about £75 for the table plan and table names.
