For those making, is it more hassle than it's worth?

I think we will buy as I am rubbish at art- oh is good do he may well make em but it's finding the time to do it :-)
CommentAuthorInDreamland
For us both working full time in the city with other commitments and buying and selling property there was no way we could make them ourselves with over 100 guests. We got a good price on printed ones from v15t@pr1nt and we loved them.

I planned to make ours and tried one! it looked really amateurish and decided to get them made by a professional! It is also good as the lady we have picked gives ideas and suggestions too which has meant we have a design which we are happy with and she can make for us
CommentAuthorMrsC2bee
I think it depends how much time you have and if you're very arty or not. I personally love doing crafts so am making my own so can be exactly what I want :) but if you aRe busy n don't need the extra hassle or don't really click with craft then buy. It also depends if u know someone who can do them as sometimes it can work out more expensive depending what you have to buy or choose to have x
CommentAuthorFutureMrsW
I will be making ours, but when I was growing up my mum and her friends were very 'crafty' and I know exactly what techniques I want to use. It means ordering custom-made rubber stamps and all sorts so probably won't work out excessively cheaply, but they will be unique and just what I wanted.
I think if I wasn't so clued up about different cardmaking techniques then I would be more than happy buying. There is so much choice out there at very reasonable prices. I like lots of designs on 3tsy :)

Planning to make all of ours. Start early and spread out the work and the stress :)

We are making ours I am quite crafty so starting from a plain piece of card but you can easily buy card blanks which you just need to decorate etc which will make things easier

I looked at doing our invites too but changed my mind and found a reasonable priced invite maker so to take the stress off we're having them made xx

I made ours and I'm so glad I did they were unique and also fun to make, hobby of the craft I found quite expensive however the r@@@ge quite reasonable,
CommentAuthorMrsEmmaP
We are making our own and it seems like it will be pretty easy. We have designed an invite and we will print it onto card and tie together with ribbon xx
Got together on 14th March 2010
Got engaged on 25th December 2013
Became Mrs P on 14th May 2016 - best day ever!
CommentAuthorJennK
We got ours bespoke designed and printed by someone else. They were based on a piece of modern art so there wasn't anything to DIY, no embellishments or inserts. Kept it simple and meant I just had to write names on them and post them out.
Our perfect day - 08.08.15 <3

I think it depends on your budget. If you can afford to have them made for you then do it! Saves time and stess. We didnt have the more money so make our own (with help from my sister). You don't need to make them complicated we just user our computer some tissue paper and a butterfly cutter. Hear is a pic x

Love the invitations Clair :-)

I think if you have plenty of time and are good at crafty things, then go DIY, I did consider it, however a friend of mine does them for a living so she actually done me a fairly good deal on them, I also got her to do the table names and planner.

We're doing all ours DIY. It's not been a major hassle so far, so long as you're organised and are up for experimenting a bit you should be fine! I'm actually really enjoying doing it ourselves, more personal I think and good fun doing them :-) xxxx

|I am making mine, while the design is similar to alot I have seen I know that nobody else will use th4e paper I have...pale gold wallpaper. They look great. yes they take time but when your guests ask you who done your invites you can smile and say you did them xx

Sorry but having made mine I disagree with you entirely SimplyP.
I am not crafty, I am not arty, infact I would go so far as to say I dont have an artistic bone in my body!
But the suppliers of invites localy who would do the invites I likes wanted in excess of £6 per invite. So I had a go myself and it cost me less than £1 per invite, took only about 6 hours to do and I've had so many compliments on them, often saying that they are the lovliest invites they have every received. One of my guests said she was going to frame hers!

I'm an engineer not an artist, never been any good at art in my entire life and the limit of my drawing ability is normally drawing stick men or straight lines on graph paper to show where pipes belong!
I didnt watch any tutorials or do any classes, just ordered what I thought I would need for one invite, had a play, got it looking how I wanted it too and then bought enough for all the invites I needed. If it had all gone wrong the attempt would have cost me less than £5.
CommentAuthorStephanieM158
I made my own but voted buy. I loved mine so much i actually felt upset when mpbody commented on them. So either they looked awful or people thought id bought them. Haha.
If i could go back id buy them only because although 50 doesnt sound a lot by the tine id finished (2 days later) i was ready for crying. It was tedious and a lot of stress

Do you mean it would have cost you under £5 for your sample or £5 for your entire order?
Sorry to hear that Stephanie, I'm sure they haven't mentioned anything yet because they thought you bought them and haven't realised how much effort you put in to them. xx
CommentAuthorNicoleW665
we're making our own but MIL to be has her own embossing machines and all sorts of things like that so hopefully it will go ok x

Under £5 for the first sample, then when happy with it ordering enough for the 60 invites cost me less than £60. Evening invites costing less than 50p each
CommentAuthorStephH96
I made my own invites, just bought thin card, envelopes and stamps. Already had enough printer ink. So just the cost of the card for the actual invites so probably worked out 10p-15p per invite.
CommentAuthorMaxineP89
As I don't have a creative bone in my body, I shall be ordering ours. My BM offered to make them for us, but the OH has said no.
Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan
CommentAuthorMrsC2Be
if you can buy them online for a cheap price then probably do that as i dont think the price difference is too drastic!
Im making them and i think itll cost me around £1 per invite, but I am crafty so enjoy that kind of thing and I only work part time.
If i worked full time and wasnt crafty id just buy them so i guess it depends what kind of person you are, im excited to make them next week and hopefully people will be impressed! x
