am sorting paperwork out to send to church when my lovely fiance hits me with ' i think i might have thrown them out' great, means we have to order a copy of his divorce papers before we can book the church :( plus means extra expenses to spend out. and to top it off he doesnt remember the date of his divorce, what court it was at and cant find the case number. Am worried its going to take ages to sort and i know the date isnt until 21016 but worried we wont be able to book it. and once its booked i can plan other things. just extra stress i really dont need :( anyone ever dealt with getting a copy of divorce papers? i really dont no what i have to do :( x

he could contact the solicitor he used? does he have nothing? i'd be getting frustrated too but like you say plenty of time :) if it has all gone through then it shouldn't be too hard to get copies

That is something you really shouldn't throw out, very silly of him. Luckily you have plenty of time to get it sorted. Good luck :)

They charge you more if you don't know the court and court reference than if you do. If you go on the gov website there is some guidance there.
How well does he get on with his ex? Can he either borrow hers or at lease get the court ref? Or does he have any other court paperwork?
Again as a above if he used a solicitor they may know.
Good luck

just go to the court when the divorce was granted ... and you can get them with in minutes . you dont need to go through the solicitor ( they will charge you extra for doing it )
Just one little word with a lot of meaning.... MEN!! lol

Men are useless with things like this my H2B doesnt know where his are "they are in one of the boxes of paperwork" (he has 4 GIANT suitcase full of "paperwork" etc so I will be giving him the task of looking for them but like others have said if he on talking terms with Ex maybe ask her for reference number or if the solicitor (some will charge, we lucky H2B wont she has already siad that its just a number she looking for).
It is so annoying and like otehrs have siad I would worry to much you have time even if you do have to go from the beginning if he cant get any of the information xxx
Away with the flutterbys xxx

Hi Emma-Louise, I am having a similar problem but it's ME that has misplaced mine !!!! . The solicitors apparently ony keep docs for for 6yrs so have no record of the number. Going to the courts for them to look will set me back £40 without the number but if my ex can find his paperwork for it it would ony be £5. Now waiting on ex to look for it as he will be needing it before me and i dont really want to waste £40, £5 i can cope with but begrudge paying the higher amount. Good luck with the sols and have fun shopping :) x
It's taken a while to find my Prince

Hi i did the same threw it out. I contacted my ex instead of solicitor and got a photo copy of his copy. It will work out, do ask your solicitor to as he will know the date of hearing etc and get hold of the paperwork.
