Thank u all for your wishes and support. He came out of surgery at 11.50pm and the HDU nurse said he was still groggy and coming round. His obs were satisfactory and i can go see him at 9.30 this morning. I'm hoping he won't be in hdu all day and that he'll go up to the ward some time today.
Excited and nervous to see him and glad that that jorfible thing is out of him and we can start on our long road of recovery but we just have to see it as a little journey we have to go on.
Can't remember if i have already said but we have decided to postpone the wedding as we want martyn to be 100% well and enjoy his day too. Xx

Oh god totally wedding can wait. His health is tons more important.!!
No he has had just a cut and reattachment no bag or stoma. I know how to say what hes had but not how to spell it!
He is doing fantastically!! He was in hdu till midday and got moved to a ward!! Hdu docs and nurses were very plsd with him as was the surgeon!!! A smaller incision than they expected so thats good too. He is extremley tired but still upbeat when he is awake. This is where it goes to show how age and health is on his side!!!
Today i'm as happy as i could be! I've even managed to put on make up!! ;-)

Glad the op went well and I definately know what your going through at the moment althought its not my h2b my mum also has bowel cancer and has her op booked the week before our wedding. What's horrible was she was given the all clear originally after months of treatment only to find it had reappeared within months. We we're thinking of cancelling too but the hospital said that even if she has to still be in hospital they may be able to let her out for the ceremony and tbh that's what's keeping her going at the moment cos she wants to be there too. Obviously I've already had my tears cos I want my mum to be there and because she's one of our witnesses but also cos it wouldn't be the same without her, but we've not given up hope just yet.
How long has he stayed in after his op?
My mum's been told she will have to go into intensive care after because her breathing intake and outake was below average :-(

He was a bit down yesterday as he wanted the catheter out and everything sinking in now. He has had it out today as well as all the other lines, morphine and drip. He's getting there. Hopefully he'll be out on thursday fingers crossed.
Mummybez ; he had to go to HDU so pls don't feel sad about intensive care. He wasn't there long at all and try to see it as its the road to recovery. Everyday is a new day to getting better.
He was allowed water when he woke up and then started on jellies, clear fluids yesterday and eating a soft diet today.

I am so sorry to hear your news.I am a nurse socan fully understand the shock to you both. Bowel cancer has made great advancesin recent years with a resection and chemo - things should turn out ok - focus on a lovely honeymoon oce the chemo is over it'l give you something else to thinkabout rather than the treatment. Thinking of you ....ah i just read ur updated post...he's had it done HDU can be normal post bowel surgery. Wishing you both all the luck in the world you will get over it x

May be coming home today fingers crossed. He had a temp last night even though he felt fine so waiting for blood results to be certain there isn't any thing to worry about.
Looking forward to having him home and spending a few days in bed by ourselves just chilling out!

Not coming home today just cos he did have a temp yesterday they want to be doubly sure he's fine. Gutted but would rather him be 100% not 90%!!! never mind he's fab today so no reason why he shouldn't come home tomorrow
