I have worked out that buying 10 disposable cameras for each table and having them all developed would actually cost around about the same price as buying 2 x digital cameras and having them float about the place..

Disposable cameras are so unpredictable and we may well pay to get a load of rubbish developed if the flash is forgotten or fingers are over the lens, plus it's only 270 pics altogether..
With digital ones noone can forget the flash, we can delete any rubbish ones and with 2x 4GB memory cards we'll get alot more than 270 pics !

I've found a 10MP digital camera on sale for £30 and its got good reviews as well.. Afterwards, I can just give them to my two stepsons if they want them..

    What does everyone think? xx

I think there's a good chance they might go walkies, I know people who've had disposable cameras go missing as well. There's a site where people can upload all their pictures from the wedding which is a good way to get candids. I'm on my phone but I'll try to look for it.

Most people now take their own cameras with them to weddings or use their phones so I don't see the point in having either to tell you the truth. Maybe just leave some blank discs asking people to put their photos on it and return it to you, or as sarah said get them to all upload them into one area on a website xxx

The wedding site I've set up allows people to upload their pics on there, plus most of my guests have bookface I reckon... I suppose camera's aren't really a necessity anymore with social media and such like !

I might just leave a little note on each table asking people to take lots of pictures and please upload them to our site or one of our bookfaces.. :-)

Thanks you two, saved me nearly £100 there ! :-) xx

I've just commented on tattys post about cameras, we don't want disposables cos the pics aren't great, could u not just get a few trusted friends to bring their cameras, give them a memory card, they can all take the photos instead of letting the cameras float around and get the memory cards bk after, either that or just get copies of pictures anyone takes...lots of ppl will bring cameras or have their phones and the develop booths in supermarkets are great now x

Yeah, I think it's designed for brides who really don't want their photos to end up on the book of face first. I've had a few friends get upset at photos ending up on book of face before their wedding day was even over. Although I'm not sure if a site like that would really stop that.

A well-known catalogue shop has digital ones for £19.99. You can also buy them from the rainforest shop online from £15 new, or £10 used.

I personally would go the digital route, as the quality will be better, and you can actually see what you've got before developing.

But I agree that most people have their own, or decent phone cameras, so personally, I don't see it as necessary.

I think I've definitely decided against wasting my money now..

I don't get why people care so much about bookface pics to be honest.. The only reason I'm fumbling about it is because I want all the pics in one place rather than finding ones that people forgot to tag me in a year down the line or something ! Lol.. And no, I dont see how a site like that would stop people putting them on bookface as well..

Our wedding is entirely family so I might just give a couple of my aunties and cousins memory cards as KelBel suggested.. It's a really good idea ! Thanks :-)

Disposable cameras are so unpredictable, you're right there!! Once got a set from the bay of e, and the films had to be prized out of the cameras as they were actually glued in, hence ruining the first picture of every film!! Lost some trust in them really. The disc idea is a good idea, put discs out and ask people to put their digital pictures onto the discs and send them back to you xxx

h2b wanted disposables but i was totally against it as we'd end up with rubbish photos. weve got a professional doing the day up until 7:30pm so were going to let the guests use there phones or digi cams and then asking them to upload them onto a cd and sending us the cd in a prepaid envelope

There are some Instagram apps for weddings you can sign upto for free and your guests sign in with their phone, and all pics they take of your wedding get uploaded. There are also other things such as we'd pics that send out cameras t you, and collate the photos

We have got a load of blank discs and are asking the guests to put the pics they take on them and post back to us. It's the cheapest way I think and hopefully the guests will get rid of the fingers over lens or no flash pics before sending to save us going thru them all.

I definitely wouldn't use disposable or supply digital cameras, x

I like the memory card idea, even if they forget to give it you back at the end of the night, which tbh they probably will, you can always get it back off them at a later date. The problem with askign them to return it on the night is they then dont have their own pictures which they might want. So asking for them a day or two later might be best

I also like the blank disc idea, which may even be better - and cheaper!

Yeah I'm leaning toward the blank disc as well, though I have a feeling I'd have to go family visiting to actually do it for some of my aunties lol.. I hope people bother to upload onto my wedding site as well, though I dont know what res they upload at and if they will save at a decent quality..
