well EVERY time we go to buy something in the high street we NEVER get any discount knocked off, hence getting e.ring etc from some of the family run jewellers instead. HOWEVER, we went shopping for daves wedding gift (he wants a tag heuer watch) and the woman showed us one for 3300. I nearly choked at the price and made it clear the budget was 2000-2500. We fully intended on buying it anyways but played the 'oh we are not sure, we didnt plan on actually buying today etc'. Got them down to 3000, then to 2700 on the promise we brought today. We left anyways haha and said we would have a think about it. We did an internet search and the cheapest was 2610 but from a dodgy site, the rest were full retail price. Other stores refused to move on the price and couldnt believe this high street jeweller was budging as their profits would be minimal. Anyways, we went back and said we were still unhappy with the price and she said the bottom bottom price was 2600.... SOLD haha! Got 700 off a high street jeweller. Couldnt believe it. Just goes to show. And I thought my negotiating skills were rubbish.
Therefore, do make sure you ask. Even off something like this which we never dreamed would give a discount it worked so make sure you ask. We did feel bad about being so cheeky but why should they have our hard earned pennies. Its scary how much they try and sell things for though isnt it?

Well done! We got money off our rings from a high street jewellers, just for asking! Only £120 off, but still, not bad for saying "if we buy them today, what's your best price?"!!!

oh trust me I did feel embarassed about it, especially when told 'oh people who come and buy this type of watch never argue over the price'... well we do haha! so yes it was a tad embarassing but defo worthwhile. Why should they have our hard earned pennies so defo give it a go. We were hoping to milk this whole recession scare and thankfully, even though it failed many times, it worked in one store but one store was all it took :)
