I got a phone call today from the hotel manager where we have our wedding breakfast and evening reception booked....
They are closing down next month :( I am devastated, i'd just started thinking about the little things for the wedding and now i have this to deal with. All the other places near us are so expensive too :(
I know i need to start looking for places and do a bit of number crunching but right now i just want to cry :(

Oh my, what an awful thing for you to have to deal with! I have to say that at least they called you. I know of some places that didn't even have the decency to do that to some couples - shocking really! I'd say, give it a bit of time until you're feeling in the mood to look at venues again. I think you have to go through a bit of a grieving process first. Where abouts are you? Hx

Oh this is awful *big hugs* Are the venue going to give you some sort of compensation? If they do you could put that towards another venue. You could even ask you venue could they recommend somewhere else that is similar in price and style. Don't worry hun you will get something sorted

Try ************** group, thats where Im getting married. Have a look at the thread I just started about my venue. The price I am getting is great. Although I am not sure if that is throughout the hotel group or if its individually priced. Worth checking out though.

Hun - I've posted a link on your wall. Not sure it's any good or if they have the availability you need but sounds quite reasonable in price and you can spply your own drinks and they won't charge corkage!!!! That's so rare these days. Hx

Theyre closing down because there just isnt enough business. Its a small privately run hotel. After i had calmed down i had a very productive afternoon. Ive contacted a few venues and done some shuffling around with the budget. Ive got 2 appoinments next week to look around 2 venues. One of them i'm feeling quite positive about... its the same group as rockabilly's venue. Their wedding brochure is a bit pricey but i phoned them all the same and they have taken all my wedding details and shes going to put together some packages for me to go through on monday. fingers crossed. I feel all weddinged out today and now ive got to go to work :( hopefully we can afford one of these venues, if not its looking like having a buffet instead of a sit down meal and cutting down on the flowers, favours etc. roll on next week!

if you have insurance, it could be a blessing in disguise! read up on your contract and small print in the insurance. They may well pay out to help you rebook somewhere else

I went to look at a couple of local hotels yesterday. One i wasnt impressed with, i just wasnt anything special and they were charging a fortune. They thought they were doing me a favour by offering to throw in the tea and coffee for free when i pointed out that every other place i had been in contact with had it included in the meal price.
The second place was amazing. I fell in love with it as soon as i walked in. Its amazing... I just need to wait for them to call me and let me know if the date is available (I would change the wedding date to have it there!)
To pay fo it though i have had to ask the bridesmaids to pay for their shoes and accessories themselves, the best man and groomsman are hiring their suits, i have to cut down on flowers dramatically, we are donations to manchester childrens hospital instead of favours (we would have done that anyway but probably donated more) and the honeymoon wont be until october at the earliest i think....
Im going to see one more on thursday, thats a pub function room, im intrigued as to how much they chartge but its nothing special. I think ive already made my mind up tbh, fingers crossed they have the date available.
