    Hi Ladies,

I wrote a post a while ago about a poem I had written for me to read out on the wedding day. Its just a quirky wee poem but H2B really likes it. Well now my mum has kindly written us a poem and I love it. Its very sweet and nicely worded. I was going to use her poem in place of mine but H2B wants both. Problem is they are written from the brides perspective. Now can I have a friend reading one of them (and me reading the other one) OR should I choose one and ditch the other?

Im really stuck cos H2B wants both of them but I cant read out both of them as people will get sick of the sound of my voice. BUT would it sound silly being read by another person?

    MY POEM:

I love you with your baldy head
I love to cuddle up in bed
I love you with your smelly feet
I love it when you bring me treats

I love your cheeky little grin
And the soul patch on your chin
I love it when we are all alone
I love you even when you moan

I love your face every day
I love the way we like to play
I can't wait to spend my life with you
I know in my heart youll always be true

You’re the only one who has my heart
I will love you until death us do part
I can't think of a better way to say
I love you more every single day.

    MUMS POEM:

Let me be the gentle chime that wakes you every morn
Let me be the soft breath to brush your cheek each dawn

Let me be your sunshine when days are bleak and grey
Let me be the gentle stream to wash your cares away

Let me be beside you when the rain clouds start to form
Let me be the shaft of light that guides you thro the storm

Let me be the peel of laughter brightening up your day
Let me be the haven where forever you will stay

Let me take your hand when your heart is full of fear
Let me be that gust of wind to lift you from despair

Let me be the setting sun that ends a perfect day
Let me be your dreamboat when you want to sail away

Let me always be there throughout our years of life
And Let me be forever proud to say that I’m your wife

What do you think ladies? Have both or just one? I dont want to offend my mum (plus I really like her poem) and H2B wants the one I wrote....Cant decide what to do

I like the 2nd one best. 1st one mainly about how much you love him, but 2nd is about being there for him through life so for me i would say 2nd as more meaningful.

But only my opinion both are lovely though :)

Yeah, thats the thing. I like the second one more now but when I said to H2B about changing it he is insisting we have both lol. Only thing is my mum wont do a reading. She gets very nervous public speaking. So I have this friend coming all the way up from London and staying for 2 nights in the hotel. I thought it might be nice to get her to read it as she is making a lot of effort to come and she is a singer too. So she is happy to read in front of people. I just thought it might sound weird if some else read it? Do you think it would be ok?

Ok what about saying your mums during the service and saying yours as a kinda speech during the meal or even putting it in a card to him instead?

Im not sure it would sound the same if it wasnt you reading if im honest.
So maybe as Hails said you could break it up. can you have one in the church? the 2nd one would be perfect for this and the first great for the reception.

That would work, I could say it during the speeches. Its less formal then :-) I like that idea! I wasnt really sure what I would say during speeches (I wanted to say something tho) so that would be nice :-)

Awwww hun, they both brought a tear to my eye! They're lovely.

I agree, do one during the ceremony and the other during the speeches at the reception, alternatively, read one out and have the other printed and framed on display at the reception venue.

    xx

I'd do both, a lot of wedding poems are written as if being said from one of you to the other but most people would get someone else to read them so I dont think it would be weird to get someone else to read your mums

There are so many people out there who will tell you
    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

Thank you ladies, Im gunna read one at the ceremony and the other at the reception :-) cleared it with H2B. Last night ny brother phoned and he has written one too! Pain in the bottom now cos I like his one too! The other reading for the wedding Ive chosen is "When Im 64" - the lyrics to the song read out like a poem. I had to have the beatles in there and the lyrics to that song are great. :-)

Awww, they're both absolutely gorgeous, how lovely and special that your mum has written that for you :) Doing one at the ceremony and one at the reception is a fab idea x
