    Hi Girls and Guys,

    Safe to ay, for those who've read my previous posts, things are looking up. Slowly but surely I'm starting to not hate this wedding (!).

    Yesterday we went to look for and order our wedding rings. I wasn't anticipating this but I'm totally okay with the fact that mine and the OH's weddings rings are nothing alike...in fact, they're not even from the same shop!

    The OH's ring is 9ct yellow gold plain band (very him), from a high street jewellers;
    My ring is diamond cut white gold from an independent jewellers that deal mainly in vintage & one off pieces.

    My OH is a straightforward, sensible but fun type of chap whereas I'm a little more "alternative", quirky and a little off centre, I don't really *do* plain/simple, therefore the white gold, diamond cut vintage :) fits us both perfectly :)

    I'm not asking if "this is okay/done/allowed/terrible/omg sacrilege...I'm just curious if anyone else has done this and what are the reasons behind?

    i think its great, if they both suit you for the people you are then i dont think it really matters if they match at all. my ring is shaped very heavily around my engagment is (as its a larger opal and diamond setting) but h2b is just plain gold.

    We picked ours yesterday too and ours are different.

    My ring is Palladium with diamonds and shaped, OHs ring is White Gold with a brushed middle and shiny edges but as certain he didn't want diamonds as they look 'girly' haha. Theres pictures of ours in the 2015 brides thread, I'm not all that good at explaining!

    Yep my partner and I having different rings. Mine is a white gold plain 'shaped' (in between standard and wishbone) wedding ring from Ern3st J6nes whereas his will be a distressed ring from a custom jeweller here in Dundee. He has to have something which is already distressed as he does a lot of manual stuff as a hobby so it's going to get destroyed anyway. My engagement ring is also technically used as a wedding band normally, it's a white gold crossover eternity with a line of diamonds on the top band. I didn't want a solitaire as it will likely get caught and damaged with a lot of the stuff I do.

    Ours are different too. H2b has chosen a plain tungsten wedding band, that's quite wide, whereas I've chosen a very thin 2mm plain white gold band which sits under my e-ring xx

    We're having different rings. I wanted a plain 9k yellow gold band (understated is very me) and Oh has actually surprised me - I thought he'd go for the same but then he said he wanted a slight pattern and then he decided to go with palladium instsead of the yellow gold. I don't know if there's a reason behind it, he just said that's what he wanted and I left it at that. I had a look online for some examples of what I thought he wanted (palladium with a slight pattern) and he really liked what I showed him and his favourite just happened to be from a place I could get mine from as well. Plain gold is everywhere but this place had rings in my size (H1/2) whereas most places I've looked in seem to start at a J. One place was so determined to get a sale from me they tried to convince me that a larger size was better than one that actually fit me.

    Yes ours are different. I've gone for a shaped white gold band with diamonds to fit around my e ring and H2B has gone for a palladium ring with 2 lines engraved in it xxx

    I see matching rings in all of the jewellers, but don't actually know anyone who has got them. We both have different tastes, plus I wanted a wedding ring to complement my engagement ring, so our rings are completely different.

    I was the opposite I always imagined matching rings to be a bit twee! Then we went looking and found matching bands with a Celtic (we are welsh) design and I love them!

    Ours are similar, but different. Both are platinum and both are from the same shop in Hatton Garden, but OH's is a plain 6mm band, and mine is a diamond - set band shaped to fit around my engagement ring (I'm also having a plain palladium band, which reminds me, I must order it lol).

    I was always going to get a diamond band, whereas my OH wanted something more simple.

    I've bought my wedding ring already but OH keeps changing his mind about wanting one/not wanting one. If he does have one, it will be his grandads (very chunky) gold signet ring, whereas my ring is white gold with beading & quite thin so that i can still wear my engagement ring & eternity rings

    From the brief look my H2B and I have done, we aren't likely to have matching rings either. He's gone quite traditional, simple band, not to much faff with it, but he wants something a little studier, so we are looking at getting him a ring in tungsten. I've seen a ring I like in a high street shop. White gold, but with a few tiny little diamonds in, which I think will compliment my engagement ring.
