Some of you may know the we are getting married in Cyprus next year with 20 of our friends and family attending. We want to have a blessing/party when we get back home but I'm struggling to find the sort of location I want.
Ideally I would like us to have a pretend ceremony on the beach with a party with band/DJ and food straight afterwards. I live in Newton Abbot, Devon and would ideally like something close by. So far I have one up with Dawlish Warren for the beach and there is a pub there on the beach that does functions, the other option I like I Shaldon beach which has a couple of lovely pubs long the front. You can hire Ness Beach in Shaldon for parties but there are no indoor facilities there and if it rains it woul be a washout.
So my question is does anyone else know of some good venues located ear the beach (walking distance). We don't want a formal sit down affair just a more chilled out afternoon at the beach feel. Also does anyone know the legalities of using open spaces, eg if we wanted to set up a little gazebo and deck chairs on the beach for our fake ceremony. I don't want anything over the top, at the most a room that is our own and a buffet, I'm happy for it to be a pub and share the space with the regular patrons and location ie beach is more important than how the building looks.

My best suggestion would be Hope Cove between Salcombe and Kingsbridge. Its so pituresque. There is a pretty pub there which has a function room and accomodation. I will post you a link on your wall to the pub.
