Is it just me that seems to be paying a fortune in deposits. Up to now i have spent £1125 in deposits and the florrest still wants a deposit and if I book th date for the cake he will want a deposit too.

Mark was asking why we have so much going out this month, I told him its was deposits and explained it was to secure our date. I dont want to be worrying last min because we cant find a cake maker or a florrest. He is worried we wont have the sofa paid off before Oct this year because of all the deposits..... We will just have to do some serious saving from now and Oct

It's scary how all the deposits mount up ... but at least that'll be a little less you need to find when paying off the rest.

it is a lot hun to pay all at once , you still have 19 months, what you could do is budget to pay 2 a month for next few months so you dont leave yourself short... but contact the suppliers you want most will hold your date as a provisional booking until you pay your deposit and contact you if anyone is interested so basically you will get first refusal xx hope that makes sense

just make sure you are going with who you want, as you don't usually get the deposits back if you cancel. I was lucky i had ordered my cake a week before winning one, and she was lovely and gave me my £50 back, but you don't always get it back.

My florrest is happy to wait till next month so thats good. Cake doesnt want a deposit till Jan 2012 which helps.

I would imagine that the deposits come off the final bill. Thats would be really cheaky if it didnt. I dont plan on any more

we have spent about 3500 on deposits etc so far. It is ridiculous but as you said at least the date is saved and it leaves less money to find later on

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

My OH and I disagree on the right way to do it on the deposit front - we've paid the venue deposit of £500 and are paying the photographer £150 dep next week but OH thinks that instead of getting deposits out of the way and booking the suppliers we want (which is what I want to do), we should save the money until we've got a chunk in the bank then start paying deposits. Only thing is we could then miss out on the suppliers we want as the good ones are usually snapped up early! x
