Well I'm slowly getting through all the deposits I need to pay - only got a toilet block to pay a deposit for now. However, I'm having big problems getting a few suppliers to confirm they have received my deposit in writing and for a few suppliers e.g. the florist I can't get them to confirm what they will be supplying (i.e. 1 bridal bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets etc.) on the day either. Is anyone else having these problems? I really want to be covered because of the economic status and for the validity of my insurance. They seem to have taken my money and then want to know no more.

I think it such bad practise of any company that doesnt confirm deposits and payments.

I would keep chasing them as well, have you paid the deposits by card or cash etc?

Card and cheque. I wouldn't mind, but one of the companies has had time to cash the cheque and yet still haven't had the time to send me a confirmation or reply to an email.

OMG that is so rude but least there will be a trail of teh payment unlike if you pay cash (I know that doesnt really help but it something)

are they independant companies or large chains, can you contact someone higher or tehir head office and stuff? x

They are all independent. I prefer to help the smaller businesses, although I am beginning to regret it now.

Like you I think that way and support when i can but sometimes u do wonder why!!

Can you not find out managing direct details etc? My step mum was indepentant florist years ago and she always sent out confirmation including drawings of the designs when teh bride agreed so that they were BOTH covered.

I really hope you can get it sorted, teh othere thing speak to advise burea (Dont know if have any right but surely you do?) xx

Keep bugging those that you haven't heard from, its such a good idea protecting yourself with receipts etc.
The florist doesn't exactly instil confidence if you are paying and have no confirmation of what has been agreed.

Thats what I'm worried about, thats why I'm paying my deposits on credit card and doing it there and then so I can get a receipt with my payment. No way I'm losing out on a few hundred quid or being forgotten about because someone "forgot" to send me an email. Don't trust anyone I say :) xxx

any that you can go and see ... do so , i would be standing there demanding a receipt and confirmation of what they will be supplying.

Bombard them with emails ... theywill get so fed up of you in the end they will be happy to do it lol

You could always send them an email with the words that you want them to say, i.e. we have received your deposit & can confirm that we will provide XXX service on XXX date for XXX cost (plus specify a figure for VAT for that so thedon't lump that on you later), then just ask them to reply to confirm that. That way it'll only take them a couple of seconds to reply and confirm what you want.

Well on Monday I phoned the florist, after many emails with no response (the responded by email when I first placed my order so I know they read their emails). So today, I am going to get my h2b to phone them. If we still don't get our confirmation, on Friday we shall be asking for our deposit back.

Not sure if this is the right place for this but I've just got to tell people. my and oh have been a bit worried lately coz we thought we would not be able to get any time off work at the same time next year, but hopefully that'll be sorted by the end of the day and if it is my wonderful Mam has just said she'll pay the deposit for our venue next week so we can start the ball rolling. So I'm keeping everything crossed that my work says yes.

Thank you for all your advice everyone. I finally got my final confirmation late last week. It took a small threat that we would consider going else where if they didn't reply because we had been chasing for over a month. Feeling a lot happier now.
