    Hello!
we booked our wedding at Stock Brook Manor, Essex for August 2012
but have cancelled as were now going abroad, the T&C say if cancelled 6 months or longer before event we get 75% deposit back, the lady called yesterday to say the directors are refusing refund as it was a 'non refundable deposit' - where do i stand?

    anyone dealt with these?

From what I have experienced I think they are right that the deposit is non refundable and when they say in the terms and conditions 75% that is 75% of anything you have paid towards the balance of the wedding but some say they will only do this if they can get someone else to fill the day.

Yeah we lost out deposit for our venue before we changed as well..................their reason was the deposit was none refundable, then you get 75% back of the total sum of money after that, depending on how much you have paid when you cancell??

If it says in your contract that the deposit is non refundable then Im afraid they are within their rights. If it doesnt state this in your contract then I would maybe argue the point of the 75% Did you have wedding insurance? xx

Your lucky that they ain't charging you :) if we were to cancel within 8 months of the wedding date we would have to pay something like 30% of the final balance!x
