Basically I ordered a dress through a shop in London who were lovely and arranged it to be couriered to my sisters address (as I didn't want h2b to see!) this was due for delivery on Monday and so she waited in all day only for them not to turn up!!
Next day we rang the shop to ask for tracking number and she immediately jumped on the case and rang the delivery company for me before calling straight back with the news that the delivery company said it had been delivered and signed for by my sister herself!! After a day of going backwards and forwards, it became apparent that the dress had been delivered to the wrong house and the delivery driver then changed his story from saying it had been signed for by my sister to saying it had been signed for by a neighbour. A little later on, my sister saw the delivery van parked down the road and the driver talking to some neighbours. After he left, my sister went down to speak to the couple and explained the situation. The couple revealed that the driver had confirmed that he had infact left the parcel at the wrong house and had infact left it in the garden as no one was in!!
As soon as my sister saw the neighbours coming back she went down to ask about the parcel, luckily they had it although it had been left outside in the bad weather from 2 until 8! At that moment the delivery driver turned up again to see if they had a parcel. At that time they said they hadn't to see what the driver said. After a bit of a grilling, he admitted forging my sisters signature so he didnt have to come back!!
Today we rang the delivery company to complain. At first they were apologetic, then when asked what they were going to do about the situation they turned nasty and replied 'you've got the bloody dress, what more do you want?' They then went on to say ' I can't believe you've phoned asking for money' ... We hadn't even mentioned money, we just wanted to know what they were going to do to make sure it didn't happen again!! He then started shouting and making sarcastic comments like 'oh how about we come cut your grass for you, clean your windows, would that make you feel better?!' I cannot believe how rude he was!!
Does anyone know how to now escalate this case to legal action? Surely forging a signature is fraud?!! The shop has been so lovely and helpful and backing us up in every way, although I think e would have to claim through them, then they claim through the delivery company? Anyone know if that's right?! Help!!!

Ive just called citizens advice, they said we have to claim damages through the wedding shop then they claim through the delivery company as i thought. We didn't want any money, just the courier charge back, but now they've acted like they have im furious! I havent been up to check the dress but if its damaged in any way i going to claim the lot!! x

Forging a signature is illegal! And the way you were spoken to is outrageous! I would kick up as much of a fuss as possible. If they did this to you, they'll be doing it to others too. I'm so shocked at this xxx

I work on an RAF base, and daily we get couriers dropping parcels off, and one time they came while we were shut and seeing as they know me they signed my name....and left it by the door.... Security alert!
LUCKILY I had been to the guard room that day to drop off some keys, and signed my name and time...which was BEFORE the courier signed my name. So I had an alibi it wasnt me, I could have been fired for that, for a breach of security, an unopened box just left there in front of SHQ? and anyway....WHY would I have signed for it and then left it outside? I rang the company....DPD I think and told them I wasnt happy....they said they would deal with it but it has happened many more times since. And I suspect witht he christmas deliveries in the next few weeks, its going to get worse.
They dont know or care the ramifications of what they are doing when they dump the stuff, they just want to offload it, cos they get paid per drop, not per hour.
Il ask h2b when he gets back as he's a postman and used to work for the police so handy really lol x
also wold have been nan and grandads anniversary

We had a series of issues with a company called Y0del.
One of my colleagues ordered a bed frame, had her daughter wait in all day for delivery and it didn't arrive. When she chased it up, it had been sent back to the company she had purchased it from saying that they had tried to deliver and no-one was home (her daughter was home all day!)
Another colleague had the same issue where they said no-one was home despite her husband being at home all day. Her hubby saw the van the following day at the top of the street and went and spoke with the man who said that he was sorry he had said no-one was in, they are given double the manageable amount of deliveries to do so just mark some down as not home to get their deliveries done! Poor poor service
I really did marry my Mr Wright and we had a nice day for a
Wright wedding!

Its so bad that the companies know this is happening yet do nothing about it, even go as far as trying to put blame on the customer!! I wish i said it hadnt turned up now!! x

Don't get me started on deliveries. I had ordered some personalised candles for our candle ceremony. They were delivered whilst we were on holiday. Got home to find a slip through the door saying 'left in blue recycle bin'. Only two days later whilst we were still on holiday the bin was emptied! Rang up complaining and R0yal Mail said I had to get the person who I bought the candles off to complain. and they told her that I should complain. They were a right nightmare. I eventaully got my money back. They reordered my goods for me. After so many promises of practices being updated etc guess what happened to my second parcel? yep, left in the recycle bin! I stormed down to that sorting office and played up merry hell I'll tell you. I now pay extra to use another company, never send letter by post any more. Only do If I go onto the suppliers website and find a freepost address. x

That is awful, is it just a local courier or one that is well known as a nation? Trading standards might help but other than that I really am unsure,

Seeing as my parcel eventually turned up, what do you girls reckon i should do? xx
CommentAuthorGlitterfairy
They need to do something about their staff, what happens if it has rained so hard that the dress got ruined, or even worse stolen. Ok you have your dress but at the end of the day a signature has been forged here.

I am so angry at them now that i'd love to take them to the cleaners and make them pay for what they did!! My sister took a day off work yesterday to sort it out for me and its been so stressful! I was so excited for the delivery of my dress and theyve ruined it! xx

I think first things first you should go check out your dress first chance you get, and note each and every bit of damage you find. Secondly ask your sister's neighbours (and your sister) if they're willing to write you up "mini statements". If you remember date time etc of your phone call take note of basically, literally everything to do with the fiasco.
Write a letter including all of the above and if it's a national company and you only spoke to a local branch take it above their heads, if not write to whoever is the highest person you can find, chances are it COULD be the person who was sarcastic to you but it will all be a good start for kicking off proceedings. Before you post anything though make photocopies of the lot, to add insult to injury (and a bit of irony) post it to them recorded delivery so they cant make out they haven't received it. If they come up with another excuse then you have copies to send again and again til they acknowledge your contact with them.
Try to keep any correspondence in writing, emails or letters. If they don't repsond in a way that you would hope for then you have all of your documents photocopied plus their replies for if and when either you or the dress company need to take it forward in a more legal sense.
As everyone's pointed out what they done regarding your signature is fraud and therefore illegal. And if there is any damage to your dress THEY are liable even if you have to go through the channel of claiming from the dress company then they claim it back. Just be sure to reassure the dress company you are only doing it that way because you HAVE to, though I'm sure they'll understand that.

That's awful! You got your dress by pure chance - what is to say that someone couldn't have just walked by the neighbours house & helped themselves to it? My friend works in customer services for a uTilities company, regulated by Ofwat or something. A quick google tells me delivery companies are regulated by ofcomm. Anyway, for such regulated bodies there is a system by which complaints are highlighted to the regulatory body, operating on points. If someone complains by phone, it is registered as one point. Another call regarding the same matter by the person is 5 points. A letter is worth 100 points, a second is worth 200 points.
And you know what points make...? PENALTIES!
So the more points they get, the further down the service leader board they go... So they can't make claims like being the UK's best/favourite providers of x etc.
Persistent complaints with high point values are more likely to be seen by the regulators. It's why a telecom company 'chat chat' dealt with my written complaint very efficiently, as the three phone calls i made didn't make any impact...
Good luck!
P.s get some money back and treat yourself and your sister ;-)

This happened with my engagement ring !! We ordered my ring from the US and it was sent via the ex's of Fed. They actually left my ring in the green bottle bin outside our house withe the lid off so for evryone to see. Luckily it was still in there when we got back from work but lets just say I was not best pleased AT ALL. phoned the company and managed to get said company to pay the import tax on my ring as I was so mad that anyone could have just taken it ! xx

It's really annoying when this kinda of stuff happens. Our actual post man is hopeless. He constantly delivers our post to the same number on the next road because he ovbviosuly can't be bothered to come up to our house - as we live up and then end of a cul-de-sac. Luckily the woman who lives there is nice and honest and kindly brings our parcels up to us. We've both complained so many times to Royal Mail but nothing has ever been done about it! I now try and get things delivered to work so at least the ladies in the front office I know will look after things for me! Post these days is scandalous!

we had one at daves parents house when they said they attempted to make delivery at 3pm. We range at 4.30pm as she had paid extra delivery charge of £12 to guarantee by 4pm the following day and they shut at 5pm. The delivery driver said noone was home. She was at the window overlooking the only possible way into her house as its off the street and on some land which they have to drive into as it comes off the lanes and so she was definitely home and would have been able to see him. He hadnt even bothered to try. She lost her money as it wasnt refundable. We have also paid £11 for next day deli... it was due Mon and we were told it would defo be here mon, then told tues, then told by 10 am weds, its now 7.20pm and still nothing and now they are not answering their phone. FUNNY THAT but we cant start laying the flooring until we have this one little tiny miniscule part, its soo frustrating. I said to try to get our money back to our husband but he said it wont be possible. I think this is the problem. Too many people let them get away with it. Fight your case and take legal action against them. It is illegal to forge a signiture and as the other girls said, someone could have walked off with your friggin wedding dress! Go as high as you can and keep us informed x

Write to watchdog, any news sites you can think of and tell the delivery company you are doing so, that is absolutely outrageous! What he has done is illegal, also speak to the wedding shop and ask them to foward this claim on....I cannot believe someone would do that! That's disgusting

this sounds absolutley awful. I cant believe they actually do things like that. Hope you get some sort of compensation to be honest. If it wasnt for you being so proactive then you might not have got your dress at all so well done you x

This is so bad of them!!! I had a similar thing with some uni books, they told me it had been signed for but couldnt provide a signature for me to look at. Turns out the delivery man had signed for them and was selling them on Bay of E!! Needless to say he got the sack, but the delivery company never spoke to me in the manner that yours did to you! Don't let it lie hun, get some money out of them and treat yourself! Also I would get your sister to check your dress over for you, just incase it did get damaged xxx
