My partner hates the chair covers. Do you think it look ok without them? He says it's as if you are trying to hide ugly chairs! I am having cake pops as table centres as I don't see the point in wasting money on flowers I won't do anything with or buying/hiring table centres that I don't need or won't use again. This way people can eat and stay happy! I want balloons though, are they too old fashioned and tacky? I would also like a large banner with our picture on it saying something but how do I tell people I want this so I don't end up doing it myself?x

I think if the chairs are nice you don't need them you could use ribbon or sashes to dress chairs. If the chairs are minging (like mine are) then you should defo have them

Ye I agree with Emsy - If they are nice, there's no point in wasting money. Do they go with everything you are having or do they clash? I'm having chair covers, because the ones at our venue are gross.

I don't really think they go. They are gold frame with burgandy cushions from what I remember. Would that go with a blue and pink cupcake theme? xx

They sound exactly like the chairs I've got. If you want chair covers, have them and just say you wanted to suprise him on the day lol

Don't think he'd fall for that, ha ha! My friend said she would try and think if there was anything else we could come up with, expecially to save on the cost factor.

We're not having chair covers. If the chairs aren't awful, and those actually sound quite nice, it seems like a waste of money.

How much input are you allowing your fiancé? I would be furious if when talking about something I'd said to Grant that I absolutely didn't want something and he went behind my back and did it anyway. Not a good start to a marriage.

I wouldnt do that to him. I would try and convince him if i really wanted the covers but if he really really hated them then i wouldnt have them. He doesnt have a lot of input. I do show him things and tell him I like things but just like a man he has a quick look and nods his head! What does that mean?!x

Perhaps, like a lot of men, he feels like he isn't meant to have any say. Grant sort of expected that when we first talked about getting married but has really got into it and come up with some great ideas. Why not sit down and talk through ideas together?

They sound like they will go with your colour scheme and I'm sure they go with everything else in the venue too. Mine are gold framed with pink seats (it goes with the room which is from Georgian era) I'm having gold and aqua. I figured that they look nice and go with the room so why pay that much money for something I don't need. Its not like people pay that much attention to them anyway. We did look at another venue that had some awful chairs so I would have paid to get them covered but I think the h2b has a good point in why make people think they are sitting on naff chairs when they are really nice?

Save the money you would have spent on them and use it for an extra treat for you! ;0)

Im getting married in a hotel called the Georgian! Its lovely and the walls match my colours as they are pale blue and my dresses will be just a shade darker hopefully. I need to go see the venue again as images disappearing from my mind coz it was september we booked it!

Go and take some photos. It is what we did and if they have a wedding fayre go back when it is set up for a wedding and take some snaps as it really does help. You do forget little things over time. I also marked out where plug sockets are and how many for the dj and how big the dance floor is etc. I know it sounds silly but things like that matter.

we were torn with chair covers but went for them anyways.... the chairs are nice in the venue but I felt they were a little worn. The venue said it makes it authentic and in keeping with the hall. However, h2b and mil2b advised to cover them partyle bcause of that but partly because it looks more 'weddingy' apparently... not sure what they meant by that but I understand that it helps add the colour due to adding ribbons. The worse thing you could do though is get chair covers that dont fit. If you do go down this route, wait for a wedding fayre at your venue and speak to the dressers there. Check how well they hang on the chairs you will use. we saw some god awful ones that just dont fit but lukily the ones we have picked do as we waited for the wedding fayre to check them out.

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

in all honesty how many guests are going to pay attention to the venues chairs?!? Ive been to a fair few weddings and don't remember the chairs from any of them, once you're sat on them you can't really look at them anyway.
I won't be bothering with covers providing the chairs aren't tatty and ripped, although if a wedding venue had chairs like that I doubt i'd be going with them anyway lol

People aren't going to pay attention to burgundy seat covers and you won't see them once everyones bottoms are on them, lol. If you still want something on the chairs you could hang a paper pom-pom off the back. Sound crap I know but they are really pretty, I am making my own in the colours to suit my theme. Balloons are lovely. We are just having 2 big bunches of 50 tied with pastel ribbons, so they will look nice and the kids can take some away with them at the end of the afternoon. x

are the chairs going to be used for the reception or just the ceremony? if its just the ceremony i wuldnt bother but if you hate the chairs that much i would have them. talk to h2b about it and re look at the chairs they may be a lot better than you remember x

Im not sure as the ceremony will be upstairs then we come down to the reception room so they might have other chairs upstairs to save them carting them up and down. Going to see venue again in june when we're off so will see what they look like then and decide from there.

I don't like the chairs at my venue but they won't provide covers and they are out of our budget even though we only need 42. Does anyone have an idea of something we could do. My colours are purple and gold the chairs are dark green.
