My friend was married in December in 2009 and she had a colour theme of deep red which looked stunning with the white of her dress. Rather than traditional reception drinks they had mulled wine and the favours were christmas tree decorations that she made. The flowers she had were red roses for her and white for the bridesmaids. I think as well with the winter season you can have a lot of candles and make it really cosy with the lighting x

Getting married in December quite a few venues will already have lots of flowers and tasteful decorations due to Christmas :) we wanted December but were being ripped off for minimum number charges etc so we've picked last weekend of November and the venue are putting up the decs etc for our wedding :) We've gone for moroccon lanterns on each table and there'll be lots of twinkly lights. As it gets dark earlier we'll get los of use out of them :) Pick seasonal flowers! we went to see our florist and she gave me a quote for the specific flowers I'd asked for, then gave me another quote for very similar flowers that were in season - was half the price!
thanks for all the advice i'm not very hard to please but my mind doesn't want to put things in place, i'm thinking of white flowers for myself with red gems which is all tied into my dress but now i cant decide on traditional round bunch for bridesmaids or just cpl long stemmed flowers for them, does any1 know any sites that may have nice photos i could take a good look at to try help make my mind up. I think i should wait until closer to christmas this year and go take a look round the venue and see what they already have up, that might help really wouldn't it. ClareE it's a shame you had a problem with your venue altough I am very glad you have managed to find an alternative, really hope it gives you the satisfaction that your first choice would have given you

Hello and congratulations rosered!!! As the other girls have said - picking a colour scheme will really get things going, and a venue. Don't worry about booking your venue too soon - they can get snapped up a couple of years in advance sometimes! We booked ours last May! Look in wedding magazines too - there's one in particular that is smaller than the others (I don't think I'm allowed to post it's name) which is really good - especially for real life weddings for inspiration! Good luck x

Hello
We booked our venue in feb this year and we are getting married in october 2012. As a special touch to our wedding we are having a Harp playing during the ceremony and wedding breakfast. Nobody knows this yet, except my mum, it will be a little suprise for everyone.

Hi Rosered. As a florist i'm having a nightmare with choosing my flowers as i want them all!!! What i would advise is choose your colour theme and style you like, traditional, modern etc and then consider your budget as it is an expensive time of year for flowers but that doesn't mean you couldn't have what you wanted. A good florist should always try to advise you to make the most of your flowers ie can you use them in church and then find 1 of your guests to transport them to the reception venue etc, do you want lots of flowers? You could use lots of seasonal foliage with a few flowers with extras like cinammon sticks, cones the list goes on! If you would like anymore help i'll be happy to help you as i love my job! Just let me know :o)
