Me and h2b have been debating on weather to take our ds who will be a month short of 6 on honeymoon with us. Other people have said just leave him at home with my parents but there is no way we could leave him for two weeks.

We have had a big chat about it and also spoke to my parents who would be looking after Connor when we went away and we have all agreed that IF we go away our two selves it will just be for a week.

We would love to go to Mauritius but not sure a week would cut it. Connor will be at school so my parents would get a break of sorts during the day so really I have no worries with them looking after him for a week they look after him for me two days a week now when I'm at work but I'm thinking a midweek departure date so they have the weekend to break it up and doesn't seem so long.

I'd quite like to do Cyprus for a week but h2b doesn't is there anywhere you'd suggest for a weeks honeymoon. We don't want to spend a fortune as we probably won't be seeing much of it lol.

The other thing is that we are more than likely going to Florida the following May the three of us unless we go on a family honeymoon for two weeks but the chance of that are slim as we won't take Connor out of school for two weeks.

    Any suggestions welcome x

Portugal is a lovely place to relax and it's only 2.5hours on plane, maybe go for 10 days? We went for 3days abroad last year and I felt so guilty my son who is 4 didn't even notice we were gone he had a hell of a time my parents let him get away with murder he has them wrapped round his little finger I'm sure your son will be same, don't worry too much over it just do what you like and have a good time this is a once in a lifetime thing you won't be having another honeymoon xx

If your going to Florida the three of you the following year why don't you see that as your family honeymoon (sort of your main one as well because you'll be spending a lot on it) so after the wedding just anywhere for a week that is nice and hot, like you say you're not planning on seeing much of it so doesn't matter so much ;)

We have 4 children between us; aged 21, 17, 16 and 11. The middle 2 are mine and live with us, youngest and oldest his, we have his lad during the week and every other weekend. I'd love a proper honeymoon abroad but there's no way I could go away without them I'd just feel too guilty. So we're going to a spa hotel for 3 nights after the wedding and then planning a mega trip to Australia and Singapore when mine will be in uni. Xx

Dubai is good for a week or less away and there are always cheap deals! It's not the cheapest of places though. I recommend Tokyo or Hong Kong for 6 days but flights are quite long. You can get them for around £400-500 return. You just have to be swift. Those are city holidays.

For beach holidays, Santorini, Sardinia, Canaries, British Virgin Islands, Maldives and Mauritius sound fab... Though the last two destinations are much more expensive, but look so stunning. There are a lot of 7 night packages for them too so think a week should be absolutely fine! Mexico or Hawaii are also great for a week if you plan to laze around the beaches or resorts.

Victoria I feel guilty leaving him for the weekend with his daddy if I'm away with the girls. We are going to Portugal this October big family holiday if we like it it's a possibility, I never even gave Portugal a thought.

Donna, that's exactly how we are seeing it, it's just a week away we won't ever do it again as long as the weather is good and we can chill out and have some fun just our two selves.

Rachel that's the reason we are splashing out the following year for Florida we love it and so does Connor, that will be out main honeymoon, but we won't ever have a trip just our two selves, Connors our world and he hardly ever stays out overnight with anyone the only people he stays with his my parents and sis and bil.

Pang that's for your suggestions, some of the sound lovely.

Natalie we won't go to turkey, h2b hates it I've never been though.

    Thanks everyone

We didn't want to leave our son either. He'll be 18months old when we get married and my parents have offered to have him for a few days so h2b and I can go to Rome for 4nights/5 days and have some quality time together xx

It will just be a week we leave him I couldn't do two weeks I'd want to come home early.

I'm now thinking a long weekend in a lodge in the country would be great, some alone time and not too far away x
