Our wedding is on the 5th Jan, so just after xmas. I don't think it is a stupid time at all, because you find suppliers are willing to give huge discounts as-well as venues due to being low season, we've booked a Christmas package with our venue which is an bargain! Also my brother got married decemeber 2011 and the weather was cold but a clear bright day and the photo's were fantastic! xxx

Emily is right, loads of venues etc are much cheaper as it is off peak and if you'd like a wintery theme is go for December or if you need abit more time to save you pennies go early 2014. Xxx

I'm inclined to disagree, but this is just based on my personal experience...
Christmas is a busy and costly time for a lot of people. Aside from the obvious things such as presents, food and decorations, there are also works do's, family get togethers and reunions with friends that people haven't seen much of throughout the year. People often have to work overtime at Christmas (I know I do!) and what time off they do have they probably want to spend with families, not to mention the inevitable Christmas shopping etc.
This might not be too much of an issue if all your guest live fairly close by, but if you have those that will need to travel and neccisitate an overnight stay etc it might cause problems.
I must admit, I did initially want a Christmas wedding but after discussing it, we decided on earlier in the year. From a guests perspective, a wedding in December would be tricky, but having said that I would almost certainly still attend if I was invited to a December wedding.
That said, I think if you give them plenty of notice it should be fine - and Christmas weddings do look lovely! xx

I began planning a winter wedding and suddenly all my family and friends started suggesting I had a December Christmas themed wedding. I opted for February in the end, because it's the best time of year to go looking for Whale Sharks (we are both scuba divers) so is perfect for the honeymoon. But I was tempted.
I can see the point about people being busy. But a friend from work had here in December and she had everyone she wanted attend, and her pictures are stunning. I think the Christmas wedding is becoming more popular these days. I suppose you just have to remember your anniversary will be around Christmas, so do you want to incorporate it every year for fond memories? Or did you want a stand alone anniversary in which case go after Christmas. I think both ideas have merits.
If u give ppl plenty of time,I saw some pics of a wedding at Xmas, looked beautiful with fur wraps etc, xx
