    Hey Everyone
I'm having a sit down meal 150 people for our wedding in July next year, then were having another 100 join us for the night do.
were on a tight budget and our wedding co-ordinator has come up with a few ideas to keep prices down just wondering what you ladies think of them and also what would you say on the invite - do you have to say your not serving a hot buffet??
    Thanks xx

Option 1: 3 course meal then serve cupcakes & a sweet buffet at night
Option 2: 2 course meal then cupcakes (made by my auntie) & chip baps at night
Option 3: 2 course meal then hire an ice-cream van she said a few people have done this) & Cupcakes at night

All sound good. We're just doing nibbles in evening and have let people know that they should eat beforehand. xx

All sound fine and I don't think you would need to say anything special. I like option 3.

I like option 2 hun. I have a suggestion as well, my sister didnt have a sit down meal in the day, she had individual buffetts for each table (Hot & cold) and an ice cream van, this cut her cost from £30 per person to £12.50 per person and people loved it as they could eat the things they liked. In the evening the remaining buffett food, plus one or 2 other things were laid out on the table, i think she said she paid an additional £100 just to have a few different things. I think were people are on a tight budget this is a great idea, people were served at their tables in day they had a hot and cold selection and it was very very cost effective xx However as i said on your options above I like number 2 xxx

My brother had waggamamma serve at his wedding.Chinese food. They cooked the food in the venue kitchen and put it into noodle boxes that were then put on tray and they just circulated the room with them and people just took them from the trays. It worked really well.

My aunts were at a really fancy wedding recently, they had a sit down meal for day guests then for the evening guests there was rolls and sausage and rolls and bacon. Went down a treat. Something that pretty much pleases everyone - including the fussiest of children, so yeah - something like that or your chips idea is gonna be a winner for sure. I had the sausage and bacon for my buffett for my 21st in July and that went down really well there too. Was going to do it again for my engagement party 2 weeks ago but ended up getting family to help out cooking the buffet anyway.

The cupcake idea is good - however as people have pointed out this is either a hit or a miss on the day. My Fiance's aunt had a cupcake stand as her cake for her 30th birthday party and there were hardly any cupcakes eaten as people were not really interested in sweet stuff when drinking. It was mainly ate by the children there.

Another idea - similar to the ice-cream van idea is a chip van. I daresay you could find someone local who runs one and that could be another very cost effective option which offers variety for guests - and you are guarenteed to please everyone with that too.

This thread has actually gave me loads of ideas for my own wedding! lol x
