A venue I'm currently looking at said they'll put a damage deposit of £1000 on final invoice..

What is this and do I need to pay it or will they just put it on if theirs any damage? xx

We've been told about this recently.... we got told out deposit we paid wont actually be taken off the invoice and is extra.... great!! They've said if all is ok we'll get it back a month after wedding, but we didn't account for being £1000 down for a month!
The contract we've got actually says otherwise though.... soo hopefully we wont get stung by this!

Never ever ever heard of this in all my time working in the hotel industry - they will have insurance

If someone stays over night fr a few drinks etc they dont put this on the bill - It is ridiculous imoh

I would ask them if this can be wavered if you can show them you are fully covered from your insurance for this. Your wedding insurance should cover you for public liability etc and they should also have their own cover so I can't see why you should have to pay a deposit of that amount.

Also I can't see why if there is no damage done why it should take them over a month to return it????

oo never heard of this. I'm just hunting around for wedding insurance at the minute but my venue haven't said anything like that. Thankfully our deposit was only £500.

Our deposit would be £500 but we get the £1000 back if no damage has been made after the wedding..

Spoke to MIL2b and shes gonna talk to FIL2b so hopefully we can get the venue.. I know its pricey but its the only one where gonna get. xx

check your insurance. Some policies only cover for personal accident, NOT public liability insurance. We had to make sure we had both covered as we are getting married in a historic house with loads of priceless things lying about. They needed a copy of our insurance when we paid our deposit. You shouldnt have to pay any additional damage cover with a venue if you have that.

I have just checked with my contract after reading this and have noticed we have to pay a £250 'special deposit' (?!?!?!?!) to cover any damage and get it back after 28 days. Not sure why the such long time period!!
