Just got of the phone from my Dad He is starting to ask quite a lot of wedding related questions which is nice BUT
Do we want a piper?.....Dad is scottish, he is the only one that will be wearing a kilt, we are marrying in a cambridgeshire 1700 hotel with no scottish'ness to the wedding at all. Bless him! ha ha Men just dont understand somethings do they! When I said it wont go with anything else to do with the day and how we want it to be His answer was "so?" LOL
Then his little gem, "have you chosen your wedding song?" I replied yes we think so "i know, I know, have The Proclaimers (scottish again!) Let's get married!"
Ummmmm No Dad! I get that its quirky & quite funny but not what we are going for Bless him I am pleased he is starting to take a bit more interest though My parents are divorced and I am the only one to have contact with him
The lyrics to the song are funny but Im not sure if it is appropriate at an actual wedding! What do you all think?

I would love a piper at my wedding and i have no Scottish connections at all. Could you not have a piper just for half an hour as guests are arriving? Why dont you ask your dad to pick a song for a father / daughter dance? its lovely hes showing an interest xx

Ah i think its lovely that he is trying to get involved. My Dad will just turn up and do as he is told but it would never enter his head to make suggestions lol. You never know if he keeps on brainstorming like this he might actually hit on an idea you can use! You've got to love him for trying xxx

Really Joanne? I know I should not say it as I am half scottish but I just can't stand the noise! I know H2B won't go for it either
I'm not keen on father/daughter dances, bit slushy for my liking Makes me sound like a right cow bag I know but I just would not feel comfortable with it
If he suggests it, I may suggest a more upbeat song............

Our wedding is at Blackpool hotel. Not fancy or anything. Quite modern. But I'm having a piper when I come down the aisle. My grandad is Scottish and so is my fil. But it's personal taste.

No doubt that will come on at some point in the evening In fact, it will be my dad singing it as we have a band and I know they wont cover that unless asked!
Pipes are a very unique sound, I think they do add something to a traditional scottish wedding. Just think it would be a bit odd for our day x

Dad ideas are hilarious. I would love a piper, I'm a scottish girl raised in England, marrying a Squaddie so I'll have kilts, Uniforms and some very confused English people who don't know my background. I think that "lets get married" is the most honest song about marriage and I am now actually thinking about it for our first dance, tell your dad thanks for reminding me.
My dad sat quietly listening to my mum and I talking weddings and then a few days later he told me he had ordered something off the bay for my evening reception. I thought "uh oh" but then he told me that he's ordered some disco fingers. These are basically little coloured lights that you attach to the end of your fingers by elastic and it looks really good when you are dancing. I had them for new years eve and they really livened up the party. I was quite proud of my dad for coming up with that.
I can't wait until 29/06/2013

If my dad makes it over for the wedding then we will be having a piper just for him, hes scottish too, i think it would be a lovely touch, we are not telling my dad so it will be a surprise for him xx

I have no Scottish roots and nothing is Scottish about our wedding but my uncle plays the bagpipes and has asked if we want him to play during the drinks reception which we do =] I suppose that's a bit different though because it's my uncle, otherwise I wouldn't want it x x
