This is the back of my dress, so obviously i am not going to be able to wear a bra. How does the whole sewing in of cups thing work and where do you buy just cups from? Slightly confused. I am going to need some padding and also a bit of an uplift as at the grand age of 38 have noticed a slight sagginess!!!

I'd suggest asking the bridal store or whoever is doing your alterations, a decent seamstress should be able to sort it out for you.

It's a beautiful dress. Alternatively have you considered 8008 tape?

Haha - nooo. That reminds me of a lady I know. She didn't believe in wearing bras, and used to use $ell0tap£ She was very open about it and I used to laugh everytime I'd hear the tape dispenser going!!

There are some low back bras out there, have a look out, maybe pop into those big department stores and ask in the lingerie departments.

Tape is always a winner but if that doesnt float your boat I would try asking your seamstress for a professional job!! :-) I'm 28 and after two children I have noticed the sagginess also ;-p though with huge boobies I wouldnt dare go without underwear.

My dress had cups and boning sewing into it, it was perfect and a couple of people (girls!) asked me what sort of bra I was wearing and were surprised when I said I wasn't :)

Definitely speak to whoever is doing your alterations. They will be the experts in what they can do with your dress to give you the shape you want. X

I know in haberdashery shops you can buy bra cups so would have thought they buy them and sew in for you. Best to ask the professionals though

Would you be comfortable going bra less?
I'd look into the low back bra options. But that's just me, I don't have much up there lol but still wouldn't be able to go without a bra and my dress was very supportive.

At an EE cup size I couldn't have got away without a bra either. I wore the bra I was planning on wearing to my fitting, and the seamstress added bra loops to the back of the dress to pull the back of the bra down below the level of the back of the dress. Some dresses have cups already down in, otherwise a seamstress should be able to sort it out for you.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.

I'd imagine whoever was doing the alterations to it would be able to sort that out for you.

I am a 34G and I will be going bra-less! I physically cannot wear a bra with my dress so I have no choice. If the support is right in the dress then you won't need a bra. I was a bit worried about it upon choosing my dress but the lady in the bridal store where I got my dress was very certain that this would not be a problem xx

I got a strapless bra to wear with my dress, but when it came to it, the dress had so much support nothing was needed as well so went bra less, think a lot of dresses have this as well to combat the bra issue

Mrs T just speak to the shop. I personally have the opposite issue that despite being a 32C without a bra on I am virtually flat chested. I still prefer to not wear one but if I have too will for the day

I am a DD and recently wore a backless dress with a nifty silicone-type stick on bra :D It worked surprisingly well! You could maybe consider a low-backed body underneath as well, but as most say here there is usually support built in.
It's a really stunning dress though :)
CommentAuthorMrs Jones
I've just seen somebody on the bay selling my dress and she claims to be a F cup and the, dress had adequate support. I'm nowhere near a J cup so will probably be okay.

My dress has a back that is the same as that and I have bought a strapless low backed bra from u1t!m0, it is fab and can't be seen under my dress, you need to buy the cup size smaller than you are though so it doesn't fall down! xx

I am going back to my bridal shop next Friday for final measurements before the dress is ordered so will definitely be asking them if they can do something with the dress. When I tried it on originally I have to take my bra off as the back strap was visible and ruining the look of the dress so I know I can't wear one but don't feel comfortable going without as I am quite big in that area. My mum did say that when I had the dress on, it actually made my boobs look smaller which I have to say, I am very pleased about!!
