My fiancé is sold on going on a cruise around Norway and Iceland for our honeymoon, which I do think will be amazing, but I'm sort of sold on an all out luxury holiday to Mexico.... and also a bit put out as before he was going on about how it had to be somewhere hot and far away (not Europe) I know in Summer Norway won't be cold, but it's not quite what we were talking about and I don't want our whole honeymoon to end up being a history field trip either. (I have no problems with a bit of history, but it's not quite how I imagined my honeymoon to be)

Anyway-my main concern is looking at the cabins, the hotel I've seen in Mexico has four post beds, a jacuzzi bath in each room ect. and just seems so comfortable and luxurious (I think I've said that before lol) and I worry that we're going to spend more money and be uncomfortable :/ neither of us have ever been on a cruise and he was saying about just going for an outside cabin, but I think we'd need at least an outside cabin with balcony as then at least we have an area we can relax in by ourselves... but even then I don't know how comfortable they are.

The company we are looking at are P and Ohhhhh, does anyone have any experience?

hey I have been on over 15 cruises so if you need any advice I would be happy to share. I have also been to Norway many times and also worked for an Icelandic holiday company for quite awhile. I haven't sailed with that company for many years so I can't comment on what they are like now. I would say if you can afford it defiantly go for a balcony cabin especially in Norway and Iceland as the scenery is spectacular. If you want to message me I can give you some advice on some other lines to look at and answer any questions you may have. :-) In Norway and Iceland it isn't history it is scenery that is the selling point and the actual experience of the ship etc.

Thanks, I'll be sending you a message shortly :)

We've found a lot of the websites quite difficult to browse to be honest and the adult only thing is also very important to us as we are not taking our son and both work in schools so the last thing we want is loads of children running around, I know that might sound awful but it's just not what we want for our honeymoon.

It doesn't sound awful, there are some lines that won't have many children on and some that will have loads. That is why people find cruising so hard and confusing as they are all so different

You'd love it! I love cruises...I've only been on one with royal Caribbean to Hawaii when I was 16 but I'm itching for another and I'm 30 this year! I agree about the honeymoon tho, I think if u want Mexico, u could do a cruise another time, however they are far from uncomfortable ... Especially p&o, they are one of the best cruise liners to go on x

    Really? about the company?

I have only managed to find one review and it's someone who went for honeymoon to the med with them and said they ended up flying home early as the ship stank and the food was bad :/ Aghhh-I'm hating this it's so hard.

But yeah, I am wondering if Mexico would be a better option and then look at a cruise in a few years.... but then I do think he really likes the cruise idea. (whereas personally I like the being waited on hand and foot idea :p)

I'm a travel agent at Thomson, and our customers looking for luxury and lots to do go for p&o or royal Caribbean,...we sell more Thomson cruises because they're less formal and are more fuss free, the other companies are really into having a formal night etc and like 6 courses at dinner, with lots of entertainment like west end shows and casinos, lots of pools, great drinks etc x

Well that puts my mind at rest a bit more then about going for that.... but I just keep looking at the Mexico hotel and wonder if I'd regret not going for it....

Thanks for the advice anyway :) you've given me lots of food for thought.

We're going on a cruise for our honeymoon with RC. We're flying to Fort Lauderdale the day before, booking into a nice hotel for one night and then onto the ship to go to Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Haiti. We've chosen a balcony room based on other people's experiences although this will be our first. If children are allowed on the cruise you're looking at then maybe go to Mexico for your honeymoon and then take your little one on the cruise to celebrate your anniversary.

If you want luxury I wouldn't go for Royal Caribbean and possibly not P&O as I have heard very mixed reviews. Don't get me wrong they are good decent cruises but most people wouldn't say 'luxury'. Celebrity perhaps would be good.
