Hi ladies Ive just started making my dummy crepe topiary trees which i will be making in bright colours (turquoise, pinks, yellow etc) they are soooo cheap and easy I had to share they cost about £5 to make heres the start of my dummy 1 as I had purple crepe paper at hand

    all you need is

    scissors
    glue
    cellotape
crepe paper (colour or your choice)
dowel rods length and thickness can be to suit what ever height you want
plaster of paris or oasis to set dowel in i prefer plaster of paris
    bucket or plant pot
    cocktail sticks
polystyrene ball (size is your choice)

the link for making the flowers is on my wall and sooo easy to follow heres a pic of what they should look like finished xx

Wow! I love the ones you have made! I am getting married in December on a tight budget and was planning evergreen and pine cone table decorations. But I could try and make some navy blue like those and add them to the decorations. You are so talented, I may need to come back to you for instructions! :)

Thank you ladies I cant believe how easy they are and the dont take long at all one you have the hang of the 1st flower your set, you could even use brown crepe paper on the rods for a wood like feel or paint them I havnt tried that yet but in some places you can buy the rod over a metre so can make them big or small.

Jem they are really easy hun if I hadnt of run out of crepe paper I would of had it finished in probably half an hour lol xxx

JMR the its the basics of a sweet tree hun but instead of adding sweets to the ball you add the flowers which I have pushed a cocktail stick in to you could probably use a glue gun too if the cocktails are too fiddly xx

Linzi-Jo the link for the flowers is on my wall hun the only thing the lady doesnt tell you is to make sure the lines in the crepe paper are running down the paper dont acroos it when you fold it x

Brilly, I've watched the Youtube video on how to make, I presume you dont use a dowel rod for everyone of them? Have you made flowers without a dowel rod and what have you stuck them to. Is is a round oasis? Sorry if I am being thick lol xx

A metre tall! I suppose with the plaster of paris weighing them down, you can make them that high. Are they centre piece for the tables Brilly? x

Lana the balls I get from daintys the most I pay is £1.40 for a 150cm ball, also get the rods from there too and buckets u can get at ikea for 89p plaster of paris and craft store same for crepe paper you can also purchase it all off the bay of e and honestly the link is really easy hun instead of inserting the dowel rod make the flower 1st then add a cocktail stick and secure it xx

Claire theres no weight to them hun as the crepe paper and balls are pretty light, the ones im making are just decoration for inside and out of the venue and will be bright colours to match my theme but you can make these small so they can be used on tables as centrepieces hun my centrepieces are actually old teacups and saucers filled with a candle x

Thank you Bryony so make the flower first then add the cocktail stick. So do I use the stick to make the flower on or is it possible to make the flower on the actual cocktail stick sorry if i sound dumb but I feel like a newbie compared to you and your crafting skills Bryony I feel like I have a lot to learn and hopefully in time I will get better.
Just had a weird idea tell me what you think Bryony would it be possible to merge my fish bowl with the topiary tree put the plaster of paris at the bottom and cover it with the green and blue gel balls and add green and blue glow sticks inside instead of LED lights the topiary tree be the centre piece with green an blue crepe roses The best options is to go fro the small polystyrene ball is it
Am i trying to squish to much in is it possible or have them separate??

I made the flowers without the sticks hun then once the flower was made added the cocktail stick as this is how i fixed them to the ball, you wouldnt be to use them with the gel beads hun ad the gel beads are wet as they are full of water so the crepe paper would go soft and mushy but I suppose you could make them as a mini tree (small rod and bucket) and place them in the centre with the flowers resting at the top of the fish bowl give me 5 mins hun will show you what I mean x

wow Love it Bryony but think I would also like to make a lil mini topiary tree in the middle with roses on the polystyrene ball with a ribbon holding an emerald or sapphire crown with a ribbon deffo with all the gel balls and plenty of glow sticks and if I can still put the crepe paper flowers around the tree like you have done there 4 flowers on top would i still nee plaster of paris ??

This is such a brilliant idea! I'm already making all paper flowers for my wedding, despite my mum's best efforts i refuse to buy real flowers that will die the next day. But I hadn't even thought of this for topiary trees, even though having topiary trees were probably the first idea i had! Thanks for the inspiration!
