I was wondering if there are any others out there like me and my H2B who are mad enough to want a country themed wedding im looking at having the evening reception in the barn and i welcome any ideas from anybody who is planning a similar theme or has thought about this or just generally has some wacky ideas to go with my wacky theme :D

    Happy planning

well we know someone who owns a barn and regularly has barn dances so we going to speak to him soon to see if he would hire it out to us and for how much, ive got a very tight budget so if they ask for ridiculous amounts i shall have to haggle and try to get it within. When i was researching the cost of hiring a barn i noticed they were very high in price some in to 4k just for hiring it.

ok so things we have so far...
Possible Venues: Church and then the marquee or Converted Barn
    Theme: butterflies and flowers
    Colour: purples and silver

Ideas for centre pieces are in my "bits and bobs" album along with cake design we have picked.

hun it isnt that difficult i'd go more for flowers like sunflowers, corn flowers, poppies all those which grow on a field :)
you could have them as arrangements on the tables and also some of them in your bouquet as for poppies they dont last i'd say you should most likely have artificial ones of those if you like them :)
as for butterflies u could easily pop them on the arrangements :) (having some stocking butterflies which would probably look great but only having white, aqua, pink and fuchsia dont think u'd need them i need to sell them as i wont be using them :))

i will have a good think and let you know what else u could do :) (as i'm having lots in my mind haha) hope i could help a little xx

Are you having a live band? Maybe do line dancing or something to break up the traditional disco. It's hilarious fun and if you can find a local band with a caller, it is exhilarating and people love joining in or watching.

I would also go with a hog roast or bbq. If you're going for farmer's barn, have plenty of bales of hay to sit on and the children can play on them too if they get bored sat at tables.

Perhaps have a horse and cart - or if your going for quaint, a donkey!!

Don't go for decorating the place beyond country flowers with ears of corn or wheat sheafs along with your butterflies. Choosing a nice barn will mean it doesn't need wall / ceiling decs or anything

For favours you could use wild flower seeds or include a leaflet for adopting local sanctuary animals

Wow jo you will be charging me wedding planner fee's with all you knowledge we got favours and me and h2b were thinking maybe a line dance or barn dance after first dance for people to join in and get people in the party mood. I do like the idea of only decorating with a few country flowers and looking in to the hay bales to see if they will allow it. I never thought about leaflets that's an amazing idea and I'm a big rabbit lover so I'm going to find a way to put them in there as wel :) as I have 2 who I love to bits. Maybe leaflets of petting zoo as well ooo going to tell h2b about this idea :) xx
enny jo seems like to have wedding planner potential doesn't she haha!!

When my H2B and i went to look at a venue they had a cow outside the stables area of the venue.
    Not a real one though.
There is a shop near by the area that has a statue cow sitting outside it and the were able to borrow it for the day.
you could maybe look around for a place with one similar.
    lol!

The child who finds the cow wins a prize I may not be able to get a massive one but Im thinking about getting a little plastic one or a teddy bear. The kids will be running around trying to find this cow haha!!!
Enny I love my boys they are so cute even if they do chew everything! Haha xx
