I have settled on an idea for a theme. It is Country luv-bugs. It stemed ffrom the fact that I am NOT going to have FG /Page Boys. Instead they are going to be dressed in cute little bug outfits (ladybird, bumble bee etc) I am going to have one "main" one and she will be "the big butterfly" looking after the luv-bugs.

My bridesmaids dresses are mink. The only other colour I intended to use was ivory, everything else you can think of was going to be ivory, maybe the slightest touch of mink or natural wood tones and at a push dark woodland green, to break it up all of the ivory. I know that I have set myself a big challenge as pulling off such a simple colour pallette with class, will actually take alot of skill and money, to stop it looking like it is the wedding of a Jeremy Kyle guest.

Here is my dilema and advice (please do be totally honest as I think that I am possibly being blinkered) needed on this. Shall I keep the butterflies & luvbugs that will be on the cake, part of the decoration on the tables & pew ends, in the natural tones or shall I go all out there and go for the rainbow theme?????

My concern with the rainbow theme is that if I dont manage to pull it off, it wont look like it belongs to a guest off Jeremy Kyle, it will look like it belongs to a guest from Jerry Springer Minger :-0

The photos are in my album (I have included a few of the inside of my venue so you can see the colours) please if you get time take a look for me.

    xXx

I love the round tables setting its gorgeous - not sire if a rainbow theme within would work but saying that you never know until you try.

Sounds so cool and fun :)

I love the rainbow butterfly cake, but I see your point that it might be a bit much! The other butterfly cake looks gorgeous too and if you don't want to go over the top with the bright colours I'd stick to the muted tones. It will look really classy if you get it right!
    :)

Just had another good look at your photo's and I love your pew ends. How have you attached the big crystal to it, it looks amazing. Another idea I want to steal - obviously you will have to tell me how to do it first

Thanks ever so mucg for the suggestions and comments. Have to confess, my theme came about from another bride on here as she was having little bugs too, so I developed the theme. The rainbow cake is so very pretty, I just dont know if I have the balls to "go for it" as much as I like to be different :-(

The pew ends are just my practice effort, as I am not having those colours any more. I hadnt put the sewing maching over the edges. Each bow is a yard of organza and it is eactly that, a big bow. Then a generous helping of E6000 glue ;-)

I really like this idea but I'd go for more of a butterfly paradise but I've only got that idea from confetti as they have LOADS of bright butterfly bit's and bobs.

Hi Jae Sin. I love the first cake picture and think it is a lovely and individual idea.
I think the key is using muted rainbow tones so you get the colour without it looking too brash or cheap and the muted colours would look great with the mink.
I think the twig centrepieces with the moss and butterflies and organza would be lovely!
It may be alot of work to source the right combination of tones but I think it would look lovely and I would help you source items if you would like as I have too much time on my hands!
ps love the what I dont want for my day pics ..... hillarious!

You know my OH better I think Jae sin! I tend to keep out of his way on here ha ha!
Your venue looks lovely! Obviously the photos are taken at night but will it look any different during the day? Is there a view out of the windows? I think it would really suit the muted rainbow colours rather than pastels of an enchanted garden as it has quite a muted palette to start with. I think the effect of pastels would get a bit lost whereas the rainbow would give a punch. Lovely!

ps Must admit, the worst wedding photographer I saw was where the MOG or MOB was in a wheelchair and the brides massive train was placed in front of this lady and the train was so big you could only see her shoulders and massive hat! It was awful!

LOL - Are yiu Mrs HJ??? I love him, even if he is a bit cheeky about the football.

Maybe the bug theme was under my nose all the time. We have been making lists of our songs. One of ours is Butterflies by MJ and Owl City Fireflies, is mine and my sons song.

Just had to copy the lyrics:
You would not believe your eyes
    If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep

'Cause they'd fill the open air
    And leave teardrops everywhere
    You'd think me rude
But I would just stand and stare

I'd like to make myself believe
    That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay
    Awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems

'Cause I'd get a thousand hugs
    From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance

    A foxtrot above my head
A sock hop beneath my bed
A disco ball is just hanging by a thread

Trust me, I will ask any potential photographers what they think is wrong with the photos and if I dont get the answer I want to hear then they will be on the, I call me, I will call you pile.

I love fireflies! I think the theme will work well too. The butterfly cake is stunning and I think the ideal of bring natural elements into it will make it look classy. As long as you use your colours wisely it won't look tacky at all.

Got some updated suggestions. The song for my little bugs to walk into - Camille Saint-Saens' "Le carnaval des animaux" (Think Disney's fantasia) and my bibles readings could be something about Noah, his boat and the animals. Kind of goes with the "starting" a fresh at the begining of a marriage????
