Hi, sorry if I'm being a bit ignorant, but I was quoted about £45 for a bridesmaids bouquet of just white roses. Are roses actually pricey and would it possiblby be cheaper to have a mixed bouquet? Is that an average price for bridesmaids bouquet? Any advice welcome.

Have you thought of the possibility of making them yourself? tube you have some excellent instructions. I am actually going to make a brooch bouquet for myself.

That price doesn't sound too bad. It would be cheaper if you had other flowers in there too. My florist wanted £55 for all roses, but I am having 25% lisianthus (?) and 75% roses and they are £45. She was one of the more expensive quotes i got, but she was really enthusiastic and the best bit - she brought a little book to the consultation so she could show me what she was talking about! Brilliant idea, I think that's what sold her for me.

I would say that price is way over the odds as roses are available all year round. I would try and find another supplier.

Yeah I thought about making them myself but not sure I want the stress of it! Can you make them the day before or does it have to be on the day? I'm pretty clumsy sometimes and don't want to end up with cuts on my hands!! Could do with saving some money though. Thanks Mel, I might have a look at some more pics online and see what else I like. Have a proper appointment with florist in a couple of weeks.

Have you tried looking else where? I went to the wedding show at the secc and showed three florests the same picture of what i wanted. orchids for myself and 3 simple calla lilly's for the bridesmaids.the price difference was silly. My arrangement went from £75 to £125 , and the bridesmaids from £30 - £50. I was like £50 for three calla lilly's some ribbon and pins? Luckily i went to some florists near the church and they have quoted only £25-27 for the bridesmaid's flowers. I am sorry i cant help much with the price of roses, but it goes to show you really need to shop about.

You could make them the day before. I was told by another bride that you could go into a supermarket and ask if you could put an order in, so that you are guaranteed the flowers in the colours you want. If you have a look on tube you, then just practice and see what you think. It's cheaper for flowers with shorter stems and I think it could be a nice project for you and your bridesmaids to do the night before.

It is really easy to make an all rose bouquet, just need a steady hand when you are wrapping the florist ribbon round the stems and then just put some pearl pins in but at an angle so you don't prick yourself! Definitely have a go as well as getting quotes from other florists, it would be lovely knowing that you have done it yourself and you can customise it as well, I want my nanas locket tied into mine so I will have her there on the day with me. x
