    hiya,
Im abit confused :/ im planning on having a 2/3pm church ceremony and then going for photos etc meeting the guests at my reception venue until the evening guest arrive around 6pm i am doing a buffet for the evening guests. Ive been told the day guests wouldve had lunch before the ceremony and that they could wait until the evening but i really dont know what to do :/ and theres also the fact i was planning on doing speeches/ cake cutting with the day guests so surely if they are drinking they will need some kind of food. im probably being really daft here haha x

We get married at 3pm too, go to our reception venue around 5, eating sit down meal at 5.30pm. We are only having once course though, speaches and cake cutting, then evening guest around 7.30- 8pm.
Not sure if that helps at all x

Im sure they will be fine without but if your really worried then maybe you could get some nibbles laid out on the tables for them to pick at until the evening food?

I'm not getting married until 4 o clock and greeting guests with a drink and canapes then prob sit down and eat at 5.30ish, we are actually doing something totally different and having a bbq and some buffett foods but still have a sit down table thing. instead of having seperate people to the day and night we are just having everyone there from the beginning and not putting a buffett on at night as by the time people having eaten and had cake it will be about 6.45ish with us getting married so late on. weather depending we are getting married outside.

so many people are getting married later on I'm really surprised how many xx

Excellent decision lillybaby - now all you need to do is confirm date, time and venue on this thread and we'll all turn up ;) With me at the front of the queue lol

I'm surprised too at the number of people getting married later, mine is the normal average 1:30pm at the Church (they can't do earlier because of the weekly Saturday mass) - this suited me perfectly but H2B wanted it earlier, thank goodness we couldn't have it earlier as I won't be able to get up so early for shower, hair, makeup and getting into the dress etc. Men don't think what we have to go through to get perfect and ready, for them it's shower, shave and erm, well the other "s" is on the toilet lol, then they're kinda good to go.

    xx

We have booked ours for 2pm but are hoping we can move it forward to 1.30pm and will be having our sit down meal at about 4pm. I have to say though, if I was invited to a full wedding I wouldnt eat lunch before going. I would have a bigger breakfast than normal to keep me going but I would be expecting food unless the invite stated otherwise xxx

I agree with Linzi-jo but if you're serving a full big buffet at 6pm or 6:30pm with cannapes/afternoon tea beforehand and the ceremony is around 3pm to 4pm I reckon you can get away with it. For an earlier ceremony though I'd definitely expect food xx

see im strange as any function ive attended ive eaten first as i dont eat out i hate the whole awkward bit when you just take a bite and someone is adament on getting you to talk with your mouth full lol but yea ive no intention of making my guests feel hungry i was worried that id over feed them instead lol. i think ill stick to what i have said and see if i can have the hog roast for day and eve guests so that will fill them up and if they want to pick they have the candy buffet normal buffet and cakes ;) xx

    Sounds good hun!

Hog roast goes a long way. About 3/4 of it at sisters wedding was left over as there was so much food in the evening plus all the day guests had only just finished eating the wedding breakfast 3 course meal 90 mins earlier so weren't very hungry. I'm worried after our 3 course wedding breakfast that people will be too full for our hog roast but................... the young men eat a lot! H2B's friends are rather greedy (at one wedding H2B's bestman helped himself to my dinner!)

If there's any hog roast left hun, just ask your venue to wrap for you so you can take it home, pop it in the freezer, it tastes delicious - I put it in noodles lol! xx

Lol - just remember hun to trust your instincts, people will always throw something into the mix that'll get you thinking and worried but you'll usually get it right! I'm sure it'll be just perfect (hog roast will make sure of it - if you can't tell I love hog roast) xx
