i have been sent our ceremony preference form which allows us to add what what vows we want etc and I'm quite upset over it now, we tried to get a church wedding but because non of my family had been to that local church the priest wouldn't allow us to get married so we had to opt with a registrar at our venue on a wedding island (I'm happy with this now as it will look beautiful) and iv always wanted the following vows I, N , take you, N , to be my Husband/ wife, to have and to hold from this day forward; for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part;
but on the bottom of the form it states that the following vows are religious so we are not allowed them.....im not understanding how they are religious god isn't mentioned once?? they said that we can choose alternative wording if we wish to the above vows....im gutted the thought of not having the above vows its what iv always wanted and i wouldn't of gone with a registrar if i knew i couldn't have these its just because I'm quite traditional.
so has anyone had a register marry them and had similar vows? or can anyone else help me with changing this that they will allow it? anybody else had this problem? any help or advice will be greatly apreciated. xx

I'm having a humanist (neither of us are religious) wedding and aren't allowed mentions of god, obey etc but we're not so restricted we could have what you have written if we so chose. The only thing I can imagine is that the vows are too similar in wording and the "till death us do part" are pretty much the exact wording in a religious ceremony even though it has no immediate religious context.
I would pop into the registrars for an appointment and ask if you can have a sit down and help with the wording?

How stupid, you could understand if it was religious content but it is not. Hope you get it sorted

We had a civil ceremony and swear that's what we said, it was a bit of a blur really.

I'm sure that's what my sister and BIL said too and they had a civil ceremony. Like GF though it was a bit of a blur as think I was a very nervous MOH lol.
I had a church wedding so can't speak from my personal experience I'm afraid.
