    Well after exchanging e-mails and photos with a couple of bakers i received my quotes and decided to go ahead with 1 of them, so asked for consultation which involves tasting, planning etc, well before hand she said would be august time she could fit me in but now shes saying it would have to be a phone consultation because she doesnt have any space left for proper consultation at this late stage, im not getting married til next august :s is this standard? have i left it to late?

    I'd be a bit dubious - how are you going to taste cake over the telephone?

    Are you see she's got the right date? I know popular bakers get booked up quick, but over a year is pushing it, unless she's going overseas or something for a large chunk of it?!

    Personally it would set alarm bells ringing for me..

    I wouldn't of said you have chick surely she can have a proper consultation with you sometime between now and then? i'd probably go back to the drawing board and find someone else. xx

    Thanks ladies, im just waiting on a reply now, the thing is shes my mil neighbour! lives opposite them and apparently her cakes are gorgeous she doesn't know me as i haven't mentioned the mil in the e-mails i know shes very popular though, guess ill just have to wait for the reply x

    I would ask her for a provisional booking on your date with the understanding that if all goes well you will book and pay a deposit after the tasting. Suggests some dates for a tasting - 3rd Saturday in September or something similar. Since it is wedding season I can understand that she is too busy for to book a tasting for a couple of months, but I don't understand none at all.

    Was going to say you have over a year to sort out a proper consultation, and how are you supposed to try out her products over the phone! I'd definitely get in contact make sure she hasnt mixed you up with other functions!!

    I wonder if she thinks you mean this August? As otherwise, her response doesn't make any sense. So, I would clarify the date and make sure she's aware it's next August.

    If she does know it's next August, and is still saying she can't see you for a tasting session, then I'd look elsewhere. The most important thing for us about the cake was the taste, so tasting was an absolute must.

    Well she replied, seems she got me mixed up with someone else and told me to ignore the last message, shes offered me the face to face consultation and taster session, thank you for your help and thoughts ladies, i just hope there will be no further mix ups with my cake ( if go ahead) lol x
