    I love them both.......
But I think you are right EcoFreak......I think the second one would probably look best because its probably more in-keeping with everything else. with the pearls, and the lace etc.....

I think I would add the detailing to the left hip area, then also carry on with a smaller version of it on the left side of the bodice so when worn together it looks like the same piece... like they have in the other picture I added, the double image....

Thanks Micky.....I hope to finish it today or tomorrow......just need to go buy a zip from Boyes....and need someone to measure my waist to floor measurement......and all I got at the minute is H2B.......he dont know I am making my dress so dont really want to risk any questions.......I might pop to see my friend 5 doors away to get her to measure me.

Yeah I think I will get the zip in, so it sits right , then take my shoes with me and petticoat, and get her to pin it for me......

    Sorted.
I dont know if it needs lining really. I know if I wore it without a petticoat its a bit see-through, but with the petticoat its fine......So I wonder if I should leave it as it is? just trying to make it as light and comfortable as I can, seeing as its an August wedding and could possibly be a hot day....one less layer of fabric would help.

If it looks how you want it without a lining then leave it - as you said, one less layer will keep it lighter :)
Oooh get her to take some pictures for us to nose at please?? :D
I can't believe you've managed to make it so quickly - makes the 6 month ordering time in bridal shops looks ridiculous lol! Xx

Eco freak it is only the skirt though, but it only took me 3 hours, and most of that was the box pleating, getting them the same width and size. It would obviously be better with a lining but as I am wearing a petticoat, and also adding another layer of tulle to that (in Lilac),it should be enough to make it non see-through... I am not sure wether I should remove the metal hoop or not, I will have to see what I think when its on me......but need to decide quickly because it has a bearing on the hem.....it needs to be longer if I wear a hoop. The zip will take 30 mins, and the hem, once pinned will take 10 mins.......so I have another hour on this skirt to get it finished, then the detailing if I do it wil make it a bit longer of a job....
Yes I will get her to take a picture. But I cant believe how much weight I have put on!
I have been a 14 bottom and 18 top for at least 20 years......but since I have been on medication I have put on a LOT of weight, I now need a 16 skirt and the bodice I have is an 18.......and is a little bit on the tight side......I have 3 months to shift some of it, but if its the medication making me put on weight.....I doubt it will shift. :(

Aw sorry to hear your medication is having that side effect :( But it's only 1 dress size on your bottom and even less than that on your top - even if you don't shift any I'm sure some good underwear will sort you out fine :)

I agree you should see what it's like when it's on - the metal hoop may be useful for keeping the shape neat, or it may sort of show as the material is light... But by the sounds of it you'll be fine without a lining :) Plus you wouldn't want to hide your lilac tulle!

You say it's "only" the skirt but it would've taken me that long just to sew some buttons on lol! Xx

The fabric is not see-through as such, you couldnt see my legs, just a shadow really.....I have a petticoat with a tummy tamer section.....its wonderful! LOL
I am thinking the hoop ,like you said, might keep the shape nice, and you wont see through the fabric......and also it keeps the fabric off your legs doesnt it? the metal hoop is fairly big but is adjustable so last night I tried it with the hoop made smaller and I like it better that way....you cant tell theres a hoop at all as the tulle is sewn on in such a way that it covers the metal, so its not seen at all.

I am going now to get the zip to put in, and will do that later on....
Most people I know say they hate putting zips in, I dont know why cos its a piece of p***....I like the invisible zips the best and theyt are the easiest to put in too.

Linzi-jo, they are easier than the normal zips.......you have to buy a certain zip, you cant just put any zip in ....its called a concealed zip.

The skirt has been pinned and now needs sewing, and pressing and it will look 10 times better once its done...as its loose around the waist cos its just pinned.....I need to add a button so it doesnt fall down as it is doing in the pictures.....

I have put on so much weight......this was me 2 years ago.....OK I am not twiggy.....but a lot slimmer than I am now....and yes, my hair really does grow that fast. This is my H2B.....

I think I will sew the pearls and crystals on, but not too many , just enough to have a bit of bling without it looking too much. I like the plain-ness of the skirt so I want to keep it like that, but jazz it up a tiny bit.
And the jury's still out on the flowers at the hip....I really like them, but I dont know if I could make it all match up with the bodice and the dress. maybe they would have to be pearl and lace encrusted flowers, to match the pearly bodice, as I would be adding some not only to the skirt, but to the bottom edge of the bodice aswell, like in this picture.
