Hi all, I brought my wedding ring from the well known h/street store EJ and they messed up on my wedding ring, my fiance and i had been looking on web and found one we liked (i loved) we enquired in store on xmas eve and the sales asst said she would be in touch as was not in stock there, we waited a week then went to same store but in diff place, we thought with it being xmas / new year she was busy, we enquired again in the different store the sales asst said not in stock and discontinued and was all sold out everywhere and would never be able to get so we settled with another ring which had to be re-sized which i wasn't thrilled about but my fiance liked the ring so i went ahead. The morning after the first sales asst called me and said she had time that morning to order the ring of the website and would take 5 days to arrive !!! OMG i couldnt believe it, as far as i had been told it was out of stock nowhere in the UK and would never be able to get. Soooo we decided we would pay it off over 6 months and have our blessing with that one and the one we prev brought get married with and turn in to eternity ring, well wasn't to happen, as the stupid person who told us that we had to resize the ring re sized it to an M when it should have been an O, i was in tears literally, if i didnt have my mom with me when i picked it up i dont know what would have happened, they said they could resize it again and i said no, didn't want it re-sized twice, i really think i should write a complaint letter to EJ, i understand ppl want sales, but not to search anywhere and make up a lie just to get a sale on the day would be like me sending a 80 year old cpl on a lively holiday to magaluf just to get a sale !!! wee i know this is a long rant but i have no idea how to draft a complaint letter as now i have my wedding ring but the other one which means so much as was paid for in full and loved just as much was made a complete shambles by a greedy sales asst, really sorry to rant and all but seriously need help with this x x x

I would write pretty much what you have here. But emphasize the fact the you feel that you have been duped into buying a ring u didnt really want as you were told the ring you had your heart set on was sold out all over the country by one of their sales assistants so she/he could make a sale that day. You might get nothing but a letter back apologising but no harm in letting them know that they need to re-train some of their staff!
Good luck though chick xx

well the first thing I would try if you haven't already is insisting that they get you a new ring and re-size that one to the O, instead of resizing the one they botched up in the first place! They can re-sell it as an O, so why should you have to accept a product that they messed up on at all? I'd try insisting they sort that first, if they refuse then you write a letter. I'll be honest, we've bought my engagement ring and both our wedding rings from EJ and they have been absolutely fantastic for us, even replacing the wedding rings (unworn, obv.) for smaller sizes a year after we'd bought them as we'd both lost weight for no charge. So I know they can have really good customer service, and I'd like to think they'd attempt to sort it for you - although I suppose it very much depends on which branch you're in and who you speak to.... Good luck anyway xxxx

to be honest u sud have asked for ur money back there and then as it was the stores fault and manager should have been sorting it... next step now is to phone customer service up first..... still get no where then right a letter but sometimes letters 'get lost' so always photocopy everything u do and send it by recorded delivery and then u can track it so if no reply and u phone n they try the we havent received then u have proof they did. Call cab as they know all the up to date on laws and legation. When u do ur letter send a copy to the store manager and customer service complaint department.... u basically write how disappointed u are with the service how u r feeling and what is the out come going to be without the resizing again which sudnt have needed to happen. sorry its not a great help what im saying but i hope its a little start.... best time to write the letter is when u finished being upset and ur angry comes out better in the letter. xx

I agree with the girls.. Go abck to the store ask to speak to the manager, explain whay you have said on here and requested (try not to loose your temper, whihc will be hard i know) that they repace free of charge or give your money back, if you dont get the reponse you expected then call head office explain to them again, if again they dont help then send a letter of complaint... make sure you keep copies and send everything recorded delivery as these palces do tend to have letter of complaints go missing!! I really hope you get this resolved hun theres nothing worst than this. If you do get your money back i would higly recommend speaking to Sm*******... They are fab xx Hope it all gets resolved.
This is just the very reason to avoid hight street chains, especially when wedding rings/engagement rings are involved.
Make a note of the exact time and date of when you went into the store, and when the problem occurred. That way they have no redress then. The bottom line is, in this situation, no one can be trusted, because as sam says, letters very conveniently "get lost",
again, get back to the store, make a note of they name of the person who served you, and take a note of the manager's name. If they play hardball, did you pay by credit card? If you did, and I'm naturally assuming it's over £100 then contact them in the first instance. Failing that, I will give you a hand with draughting up a letter of complaint.

This company is notorious for either poor quality or very suspect sales techniques. I think trading standards are already looking at this but I am not sure. May be worth giving them a call.

I've had bad experiences with this company in the past. Sorry to hear they've messed you about like this. Completely inexcusable. Go back to the store, demand to speak to the manager. In your letter, write what you've written here, just maybe with a few more paragraphs ;)
Oh and I agree with the above, get trading standards on the phone.
