I'm sorry I can't be much help as I don't have children but I don't see why it is a problem? Maybe "back in the day" it would have been but now a days people can get away with wearing pretty much any colour wedding dress! I think you should go for what you want hun, afterall it is your wedding! x

I don't think it really matters nowadays hun, mines ivory... But I don't have kids and tbh I wouldn't want to wear white as I'm not a skinny Minnie... Yet!
I feel white can be really stark... U can get diamond white which is between whit and ivory???
I love love love oyster colour in silk or satin it's beautiful but again I'm too lumpy for silk and satin just clings to me...
If u want to wear white then wear it!!! Don't be dictated to as u will regret it not fully feel 100% happy
    Good luck xx

I've not even chosen my wedding dress yet so who knows what colour I'll go for ! I'd like white but I know full well I'll have to wear a bib at the sit down meal...

Thank you hun its just so hard trying to please everyone especially the older members of the family who are already upset that we are not getting married in a church, i will defiantly have a look at diamond white as i know what you mean i think it depends on what fabric you go for as to what the colour will look like i have been looking at mermaid style dresses :)

I wouldn't worry about what other people think - it's your day not theirs. You should go for a dress that suits you, and if that's bright white or purple with pink polka dots, that shouldn't matter to anyone else apart from you. Times have changed dramatically, and if some people want to keep living in the past, then there's nothing you can do. But don't change your plans because of someone's outdated reasoning. Also, white has only been the colour for brides for about 150 years, so the first person to start wearing white must have felt that they were going against 'tradition' too.

Its a very old fashioned view.. It was meant to be virgins that wore white as it stands for purity...... I'd imagine the majority of people on here wearing white are 'breaking tradition' shall we say, whether they have children or not ! Wear what you want to wear, it's your dress, you're wearing it and it's your day ! I think people that dictate to brides are very rude, and ones that dictate about the dress are even ruder !!!! xxx

I think the fact that your dress is white when you have children would be the last thing on anyones mind haha. SOme people do say some stupid things when it comes to weddings. Times change.

If you werent a virgin and therefore couldnt wear white you were meant to have a darker colour like red (from my knowledge as an R.E teacher). I dont think anyone really bothers- if they bothered about that they would fuss about other picky things like what flowers you can and cant have because of their association with funerals etc.

The white dress and purity is something that was dreamed up somewhere over the years. Traditionally a bride wore her sunday best dress or had a new sunda\y best dress made for her wedding. The tradition of the white wedding gown started with Queen Victoria. White fabric wasmore expensive and showed your wealth so very few women wore it. After Queen vistoria wore white the tradition became mopre popular and as such is a tradition that is starting to die out. Wear what you like it is your day xxx

This is my second wedding and I was also told by some more mature members of society that I should not wear white - This is your day and you should wear what ever you want - I know I am :) xx

pish posh lol i have 3 beautiful children but i will be wearing white if anyone say anything i will politely remind them i do not live in the dark ages ! but if however, they feel peopleshould wear colours that represent what they are they may wish to go home and change into something black and old!!

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

When we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours
we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying
weirdness and call it love, true love.

To be fair, its actually pretty hard to find a truly white dress these days, most are ivory. I thought mine was white, it looks white, but then the lady held a piece of paper up to it to show that it is infact very pale ivory!! Just tell them to naff off :)
