Are there readings done at Civil ceremonies?
I really want to read one of Shakespeare's sonnets to George on our day as we both love the work and there's one that I feel is perfect! :)

Readings and songs are good but check with your registrar how long it can all be, some are a little fussier than others. Also you'd be surprised which words they will label as religious, so get a comprehensive list!

I've got a long list of Shakespeare to decide from for mine :)

What happens if you pick something that just says something that could be interpreted as religious although it depends on how its context is taken???

Civil Ceremonies are now allowed a certain amount of religious content, there was an article about it not so long ago.. someone posted a thread on here about it ;o)

I think the allowed bit covers things like Robbie Williams 'Angels' and other references to such things in popular culture.
