Hi! I'm all new to this, I like the idea of getting married at my venue-one place have said £500 for the cost of the hire of the room for this, just wanted to know if that was a reasonable amount for this. Any input greatly recieved, Thanks.

thats a bit steep for room hire

we know the person at our venue so luckily our room hire is being waved but usually it would be about £150 - £200 ..then again im up in scotland so prob varies from place to place..have a shop around xx

Where about's is your venue? I know down in the south it all seems a bit more expensive!
However, I would try and negotiate if you're having the reception there too - that's where they are making the real money!

We are paying £200 for ours. Remember you will also have the registra fee on top for them to come to the venue-we have to pay £275 but that also varies from place to place. So you would be paying around £800 to get married there-which is quite expensive x

If you like the venue then I really think it's worth asking to negotiate though - if they think that they will lose your business then the may lower it a lot. (I worked in venues for years and we had to negotiate all the time - now I have done that with my venue too and got about 25% taken off).
Not saying it will definitely work but worth a try!

I've known a few places that ask £500 for this but most will let you have it for free if you have the evening do there as well. You can always negotiate this with the venue if it is the one you want.

we are paying £500 to have our ceremony at our venue, even though we are paying already for exclusive use of the venue for the whole day!! And on top of that have about £400 registrar fees to pay for. Starting to think we would have been cheaper in a church!

the one we looked at was 350 for 100 or the other one was 500 for 250 ppl. I think it depends on the amount of ppl it can hold babe.

I think we're paying about £300 for the room hire for ceremony. I definitely wanted the ceremony in same place as reception it makes it easier to have it all in one place and it saves money on transport.
