Hi im looking to get married in a catholic church. And im just wondering if anyone knows how much roughly the charge. Ive been told by some people its just a donation you give. Also im thinking of booking it next month is it too early considering my wedding isnt until august next year? Any help would be great thanks :) x

    I'd def get booked up.

Do you go to Church, as the Catholic Church can be funnier then Church of England as well depending on the priest. With the Catholic Church it is a donation, but they suggest you look at how much your planning on spending on your wedding and giving a certain percentage. I think 400 sounds fair enough, especially as you know it's what someone is paying for a small Church of England Church, at least you're basing it on something.

Keira you have the Exact same wedding date as me :). Ye im a catholic and have attended the church since I was a wee lassie. Ye thats what some people have said that its a donation. But tbh I think 400 is a pretty fair price. X

I would book as early as possible :) we booked ours Nov 2012 for this June and the date we originally wanted was already taken.

Ours is a catholic church and the cost including bells, choir and organist is about £600

I always thought it was just a donation :-/ lol xx

I always thought it was a donation as well Amy, I wonder if some Churches have started setting prices because people were being very tight with the donations? I have heard of some Churches suggesting how much the donation is, I suppose just outright charging is only one step up.

To be fair £600 for the bells, choir and organist as well isn't bad though :)

ours is CoE and they have the minimum service prices listed on web - something like £430 for service and then £34 for banns on top - not sure about catholic sorry! our church is £500 with bells organist etc which is a really good price. as for booking, it was the first thing we booked after booking provisional date at venue. we didnt pay any deposits until the church was booked as its really the most important thing x

Our CofE is charging £744 this year (so there will be a small increase next year), but that is for everything, organist, bells, flowers, etc. There is also an extra £150 fee if we chose to have a videographer, something to do with licensing.
