Which one to choose???? I love the look of a church wedding it seems so romantic and has a good atmosphere, but however neither of us are particularly religous so is it hypocritical to have one? i am also concidering costs, is it cheaper to have a church wedding or to have a civel ceromony in a hotel. Me n h2b have discussed this n we cant seem to make up our minds, we do seem to favour on the civel ceromony, but i just keep wondering should we do it in church and does that make it easier to find a place for the reception??

getting married in church because its cheap or convenient are sooo the wrong reasons. if you are not religious and are in favour of a civil ceremony then that seem like the right thing to do. it doesn't have to be a hotel, there are some stunning venues where you can get married x

I agree with pinkalice... deciding on a church or civil ceremony shouldn't be due to convenience or cost.

Me & my h2b are having a civil ceremony cos we're not in the slightest bit religious, but we've picked a country hall for our venue rather than a hotel ([ics on my profile!!) There are loads & loads of places out there that are licensed for civil ceremonys now so you'd have loads to pick from!!... good luck deciding & venue hunting!! x x x

im more religous than h2b but we dont go to church n i was never christend as a baby, but all my friends who have got married in a church over last few years are the same, they never go to church, n thats why i was thinking its hypocrtical to do it, but what i meant by the cost was it is expencive to do a church wedding as we have a tight budget... the reasons i was asking is cos a friend was trying to tell me i would regret not doing the whole church thing.... so it got me thinking, just hard when people start to put doubts in your head.

I think the costs are pretty similar hun, but then it depends on the church or venue that your comparing. I found our venue through a website. I could post the link on your wall if you like so you can have a look? x x

We're going for a church ceremony - we have looked at both options but the Church was too important to me and we have both been raised Cof E xxx

well personally my attudude towards none christians getting married in church is this. it does not matter weather or not you believe in God. He believes in you and he wants to bless you marriage. If you want to get married in a Church you are more than welcome to in my opinion. does not matter your not religious :D

Neither Carl or myself are very religous but having a church wedding is a must for us. The chuch we have chosen is where Carl and other members of his family were batised and lots of his family have been married there over the years. Carl , Sue (Carls mum) and I went to the carol service there last year and it had a lovely atmosphere about it.

i would love a church wedding, but h2b wouldnt and h2b would like a reg office, but i wouldnt so we are going for hotel/manor type thing, i dont think it matters if youre religious or not, just personal preference, church weddings can be xpensive if you have the xtras like bells and what not but there again hotels can be xpensive with hidden xtras too.

price shouldnt matter its the best day of your life but if you have a budget then stick to it

We are having a church wedding because we are both religious in varying degrees but aside from that it was a factor for h2b that it looked nicer than having a registry office wedding. It is costing £517 for our church, and when we looked into getting married in a country house it was over £400 so we decided to go for the church as it was in our parish and because we both think that getting married in the eyes of god is important. You have to do what is best for both of you, what do you really want cost aside? There are some amazing venues where you can get married without having it in a church if you are not really religious or a registry office if you feel they are not pretty or large enough for your guests. Good luck in choosing. x
