Hope I've put it in the right category. I did look but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. Me and h2b aren't sure which ceremony we want. And can't find a venue we like. We don't have a big budget, maybe 2K max. His mum is very religious and would prefer a church, and I feel it would be more 'proper' so to speak if we got married in a church. However I am not religious although I was christened methodist as a baby. And I have been looking nearby but cannot find a methodist church we both like. By the same note, I cannot find a civil ceremony venue we both like either! Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Do you want to make your vows in front of God? Have hymns? Bible readings?

If yes to any of the above choose church.

We had the same issue. I looked into a civil ceremony but it did not feel right for us, I then found out that we did not have to get married in our parish so were getting married in the church that my parents were married in and my brother and I were christened in. xx

I'm being greedy and having both. The civil we are doing the legal side of things and doing personal vows and making the service our own. We are then having a blessing in the church for the more traditional wedding.
