We went for a food and wine tasting at our venue yesterday and the food was lovely :)
Chosen our package and wines (kids eat free- bonus) and now we have the task of choosing our final menu. It's really difficult. I want to choose what I like best but I am a huge lover of seafood and I know not many people are! Luckily, guests will have a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts so am hoping we have something for everyone!
We definitely know that one of our choices for main course will be lamb. And one of our dessert choices will be white choc profiteroles....
What is everyone else having? Going for people friendly or what YOU like?

You can't please everyone so make sure you both have something you like. We went with a soup starter and a salmon starter then chicken main or a potato cake main. (its amazing how many non veggies went for that option including myself.) We did have one adult opting for the child's chicken nuggets and chips but the venue was fine with that.

Im going mainly for what we like but making sure its not something a lot of people wouldnt like - as you have a choice i'd be tempted to go for a safer option and one you like It is impossible to please everyone though
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

We mostly went for our personal taste and then made sure we included a couple of veg friendly choices but basically, the caterer is so good we're happy eating everything!!

We went for things we like, started with duck and orange pate, then pork with pear and apple cider sauce then strawberry clotted cream tarte, also got veggie options.
Ours is pretty simple... We are having traditional Spanish dishes so having paella obviously... A meat one and a vegetable one, then we are having tortilla which is kind of a big potato omelette... I love it when they make it at the fiestas and even make my own sometimes... And also cocas which are basically little pizzas! Obviously with lots of crusty bread, olive oil, garlic butter and sangria to wash it all down!
I'm a vegetarian so it was important to me to have things that I liked, and then me, Peter and MIL worked out the rest from there, tortilla was the only thing I had to have! I would agree with what others have said, have something you like and then something popular... You can't please everyone but by choosing something popular you have at least tried to!

rocketqueen, I too am struggling with our menu...we are giving 2 options of each, but I can't get past food I want to eat lol.
Think we're going for pate & a goats cheese and red onion tart for starters, one beef & one chicken main, then a choc pud & one fruity pud. Hopefully its varied enough and not too exotic for people - the venue are happy to do additional veggie & kids choices too.
I'm sure one fish and one meat main would be good, most people will like one or the other and then at least you've got something you like!

we don't get to give our guests a choice they just get what we pick plus a vegetarian alternative if needed.

there is a slight problem with the first course though, my other half can't eat shellfish lol so he's having soup!

We are lucky as we can have 2 for each, we are going for pate or prawn cocktail, beef with yorkshire puds or chicken in a sauce, its a white choc roulard or crumble for pud. we dont have a veggie option as none of the guests coming are veggies. x
