Ive always wanted a chocolate wedding cake and my hubbys finally given in, were going to have white chocolate so it still looks traditional (that was the comprimise!) and chocolate sponge inside.

Only problem is, about 15 people on the day have diabetes, do you think i should provide alternative desserts as we are having our wedding cake as dessert?

or any ideas/suggestions would be great! thanks

My dad is diabetic as well a few guests, so there all having an option from the dessert menu if they want instead of the wedding cake.
Our cake tho is 3 tiers so were having fruit at the bottom, choc in the middle with plain sponge at the top to satisfy all taste buds.

im diabetic, and as long as you can account for the extra sugar or carb count it shouldnt be a problem,iv been tought how to carb count and its really quite easy, but if they cant do it then it might be worth having a back up plan just in case

Most diabetics are either controlling it by diet and thus eat sensibly, or inject so don't need to be as strict. You can't cater for everyone, I know we'd all like to, but it's impossible. For example, a good friend of mine won't eat egg (but isn't veggie or anything) and we're having a nicoise starter. If I remember, I'll tell the caterers to leave out egg for hers, if I don't she'll just have to eat around it!!!

Diabetic choc cakes still taste absolutely fantastic, my mum is diabetic so whenever I make any cakes I use sweetener instead :)

my dad is diabetic but he will eat cake he will just be very careful and check his numbers before etc, most can have things like this, i work in a residential home as one of my jobs and a girl there has diabetes too, she also has cakes as treats and hers is quite severe but as long as numbers are checked before hand it will be ok, people know what they can and can't have i wouldn't worry too much, maybe make a little pretty card telling people whats in it as people always seem to want to know whats in a cake anyway i find x

I think if you are having wedding cake as your pudding then you need to ask the diabetic peeps if they can eat the cake or not, and if not get an alternetive.... maybe a diabetic cupcake? lol x

Diabetic cakes/chocolate etc can actually be worse because they contain other stuff. My parrents were told never to touch them by their dietians.

    Its all about moderation.

iv been told to avoid sweetners being diabetic, they contain sorbitol, fructose and so on nd can make your bloods rise even more,as long as they chsck their bloods acount for the sugar eaten with insulin and as dove says eat in moderation they should be fine, this is one of the reasons why im having a cup cake tree,no hacking off massives slices lol
