    Hey ppl,

H2b has decided were not having a dessert table because its too much fuss and really wants a chocolate fountain - which i LOVE the idea of! Theres something for everyone and everyone likes chocolate! BUT is it a recipe for disaster because I saw how messy it gets and how messy people get when I saw one set up at a wedding fayre!

Commets/Thoughts welcome and also interested if your having one!

    Thanks x

I love them. I have a little mini one which I always do when ever I have a get together. My cousin had one at her wedding. We had bowls and there was plenty of napkins. No one got in a mess at her wedding. I had my fair share of it. I love them. And like you said, there is somthing for all. :)

my niece had a chocolate fountain at her evening reception it was maned by 2 people who helped the kids dip their bits and kept the area clean and tidy, and have to say wasn't much mess at all kids got a bit down them selfs but as they were mostly under 6 at the time it is expected. The bride stayed white all evening 2 of the children were hers but as it was her wedding day her sister kept an eye on her daughters

I said nay, although I love chocolate and am a massive chocolate fountain fan I have had expereince of these at a wedding and it really put me off!!
A friend of mine got married in oct and had one instead of a desert. There was a big line as everyone was trying to get at the fountain, lots of people over eating and it was very sickly, plus lots of sticky fingers, messy mouths and spilages. I think if you want one my advice would be to have it as part of your evening reception that people can just help themself to a little bit at a time and have plenty of wet wipes near by to clean mucky faces and hands.

as a teacher I am only going to say 'kiddy fingers' and 'double dipping gross'. Also possible (ehem probable) choccy disaster with dresses and other outfits so I am afraid ney for me. These are all of the reasons why we didnt book one. Plus we then realised it would look odd with our theme anyways as I doubt they had choccy fountains in the 17/1800's haha

I'd be more worried about my uncles dipping peoples faces into an unattended one or putting their bowl of cake under it.

they are great fun, but i also hate the thought of eating 'dirty chocolate' (it's the same chocolate going round and round) and i think i would die off if i found a fly or something it in. bleugh...i've just put myself right off it now...sorry lol

I don't think they would get too messy, there are far more people trying it quickly at a wedding fayre. At your wedding people have more time and less of a crush and also they're dressed up so will be careful! :)

I would love one, with white chocolate so as not to make a mess. I do have a small one which would be fine for us 24 people, but I am not sure the venue would allow me to bring my own, and theirs is a huge one that probably wouldnt even be worth striking up for 24 of us.....

I am thinking of getting 3 normal ones from the eBay and some different hieght blocks to put them and and doing it ourselves! Reckon it wuld be much cheaper than hiring, And I can ask the venue staff to watch it for me, they are very very good! I went to a wedding with a chocolate fountain and it was amazing! Marshmallows, shortbreads, Strawberries & Fudge all really cheap.

I reckon I can set up 3 with different choccies all the stuff for £50

Then will just sell them on after!
