So we had our first venue appointment on saturday. we already pretty much knew what menu choices we would go for. But she asked about children and whether they will eat a half portion of adult food or choose from childrens menu.

We have 8 children at our wedding - ranging from 5 months to 10ish. im thinking we will go for childrens menu as children dont really want to eat things like pate, prawn cocktail, salmon etc.

But my question is for those of you who are putting menus in your invitations so that your guests pre-order. What do you do with childrens menu?? is that another insert that i have to do and a separate childrens RSVP or are there any other ways around this? xx

i have just stated the childrens menu in the invite. i selected the one from the menu i thought most would like (chicken skewers , chips and peas with apple crumble and custard) . options was going to be too much i did add if for any reason a child would like something different please let me know when r.s.v.p ing and nobody out of 12 children has asked for different.

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

It'd be sweet to do a separate children's menu, it'd be a cute way to make the children feel special. Otherwise I'd just make a note on the menu you are including that a children's menu is available on request.

We have (just) had our meeting to discuss this and we are offering one set menu for kids so fingers crossed it goes down well! Garlicbread with cheese to start, gojons (sp?) Ans chips with peas for main and jelly and ice cream for deserts. We are only paying for kids between 3-12 any under 3 get the same meal but for free! We are also not paying for their drinks on a package but putting jucie boxes in their activity bags!

    Soo excited!

well ive had a response from our venue today and they have asked that we pick 2 options from each course so i think ill do a childrens menu :) our under 5's are free, 5-12year olds are only £9.95, 12 to 16 year olds are £14.95 which i think is pretty good as adults are £60 per head. theres a lovely menu available for kids so im allowing my 5 year old sister and 8 year old niece pick the childrens menu to keep them nice and involved - lets just hope they pick nice stuff lol! xx
