We have lots of children at our wedding, about 16 under 10s. A lot of them will be staying over at the venue the night before and there's not much nearby. H2b pointed out that we can't really expect the kids to eat breakfast then nothing till 3.30.

Did anyone else have this issue? Should we ask for sandwiches for them about 12ish??!

If our ds was invited to a wedding and the meal wasn't until later id have snacks a plenty in a bag for his.

I don't get married till 2 so H2b will just give ds something light to eat at lunch time before they set off to the venue for 1pm. My parents will have plenty snacks for ds as they are having him overnight on wedding night so can pop to the room for something for him xx

I dont have my own children but I would expect parents would bring their own snacks etc. I've seen lots of people do this at other weddings I've been to. I dont think guests would expect you to be responsible for feeding them (otherwise you may as well just feed all your guests sandwiches at 12pm!!)

I'm with the others. I don't have children but if I did I wouldn't expect something to be served in between breakfast and the meal, and would come prepared. Just make sure people are aware of the timings and then leave it up to them.

I'm all for thinking of the guests comfort, but I do think sometimes we as brides go too far (like, I also don't get the whole flip-flops/tights/painkillers in the bathroom; bring your own FFS! Lol)

I would be inclined to provide something actually, or at least make sure the parents are aware that there is nothing until 3:30. We have a church ceremony at 12:00 followed by wedding breakfast at the hotel at 4:00, so we'll serve light refreshments after the service (don't know what yet). Perhaps you could ask those staying at the venue if they would like to eat and if so to contribute to the cost of some light refreshments. What time is the ceremony?

why don't you put in the invite an order of the day with approximate times for stuff???? I would have little snacks with me anyway if I had kiddiwinks.... I wouldn't put myself out for them either and incur more cost x

To be honest I hadn't even thought about this. Our ceremony is at 1:30 and wedding breakfast not until 4:30. I'd imagine the 5 children and two babies parents would bring them little bits. I will ask that the two babies, both 18 months old, food is provided for them too. I'd also think that they'll have lunch before, well I hope lol x

I would imagine that parents would think of this themselves. They wont be daft and will realise that a wedding breakfast will not be served for a few hours after the ceremony.

I have children coming also, we get married at 2.00pm and sitting down between 3.30 - 4.00pm, I have told all the parents and they have all been fine and said they will give the children food prior to coming to the wedding.

After reading this post yesterday and talking to my mum, we've decided were going to make up some goodie bags with fruit, crips and a drink for the coach journey to the reception, its half hour from the church so plenty of time to snack :) xx

AMyH that sound slike a good idea. Its something id maybe do if we had a coach but we are having everything in the hotel. I wouldn't expect people to do it for my son though. Infact when my sister gets married I will have a sandwich or something for Connor to eat on the journey up so hes not hungry
