    hi girls,
im a bit stuck with this one! basically we went to 2 weddings last year, and both times the bride and grooms children were not on the top table with them. now i know its ur choice, but i really dont know wot to do with our children lol our son will be 3 and our daughter will be 1, and id love to have them on the top table with us, but then im going to have to help them with their dinner etc and im worrying incase im going to end up with their food all over my dress and sticky hands etc lol am i being mean if i sit them on another table, for example with my sister?...xx

Not at all! I have 2 girls aged 14 and 12 and a 3 year old boy. The girls are Bridesmaids but will be sitting at a table at the back with the other 8 12-16 year olds! My 3 year old is at a table with my 2 nephews who are 3 and then me and h2bs siblings.
I think to be honest the top table will be boring for them anyway lol

Working on a 3 dream plan for the next 5 years!
    Dream 1 = My gorgeous Mr P proposed - 4/9/11 Sydney Harbour
Dream 2 = Getting Married Easter 2012 by Bonnie Loch Lomond
Dream 3 = Working on that dream life in Australia

I think it depends on the ages and there is nothing wrong with sitting them with family. My 3 kids will be on the top table but they are older. we've both got 2 sets of parents each so are having to split the top table into three tables which meant we could have the five of us at one table and the parents at the other two. Might not be conventional but its the best way for us. Got to do what your happiest with, I expect your children will be happy just to be apart of your special day x

im not having a top table as such ours are all round and my daughters will be on my table along with inlaws and my sister and brother in law i will be place the girls in between the adults so they can help them lol im not a clicky mum but would be happier not having to look around to make sure they were eating and not messing about but if my sister was on another table they would be with them cos i know they would tell them off or keep a proper eye on them

That's one of the reasons why I don't want a totally traditional top table. Our son is 3 and will be close to 4 around our wedding - he belongs to us and I want him near. When mil, my parents and the big bunch of all his aunties and uncles is around then he's not interested in me anyway. I'll leave him the choice on the day with whom and where he wants to sit. If he's near chocolate (mess) then I am sure someone will step in to supervise to save my dress but I don't want to exclude him upfront.

i dont have kids so dont have this problem, however my god daughter whos 4 will be on the top table. Im not having a traditional top table either as both mine and h2b family is split so it will be me, h2b, the best man and my moh and her daughter (flowergirl)

we're not having a top table but if we were i don't think my kids would be sitting there!! maybe our eldest as she's 10 but i know i'd end up having to run about after them and feed them etc i wouldn't want my dress covered. might sound selfish but i think the bride and groom are entitled to be a little selfish at their own wedding :)

i'm hoping our family will 'share the kids' throughout the wedding as we have all our guests to mingle with and it would be unfair to focus too much on the kids. plus, it's the one day we get to be all about us, it's all about the kids 364 days of the year, we just want one lol

We are having a horse shoe table set up and my boys are sitting next to the top table so that my Mum can keep an eye on my 8yr old.

We are also having a horse shoe table plan. My daughter will be 6 when we get married this year, and she will sit inbetween my dad and my mum. I think you have to go with what you feel comfi with, theres no point having the children up next to you if you are going to be stressed etc. Its your day and you need to enjoy it.

Also, at the back of where we have our meal, im doing like a kids den, with beanbags, books, colours, paper, sickers etc so if the children get bored (they also have things to do where they are sitting) then they can get down and play :)

My 3 boys will be 8,6 and almost 3 and they are my world! However.... I have decided just me and h2b will sit on top table and the boys will sit with others, they'll have much more fun that way. And we are mum and dad every day so for one day we will bride and groom and family will do the caring responsible bit xxx

    Here comes the bride......

i'm not sure what i'm doing with my two yet. i think the eldest who will be 6 when we get married will want to sit with all her cousins but the youngest who will just have turned 3 might have to sit with my mum on top table (or his mum but more likely my mum).

ive got my 3 year old niece on our top table simply cos when it comes to my dad she goes every where with him, shes a pappys girl lol so its easier to have her there than with her dad as he will have the wee man with him (he will be 1).
