    Hi there

Ok so I am in a bit of a difficult situation as I need to choose my Chief bridesmaid. It is out of my cousin and my sister. I want to choose my cousin because she has been brilliant from day one. Never complaining, always trying to help with things and generally being brilliant. She is even trying to sort my Hen do out for me!! My sister on the other hand has been moaning about the location of the Hen do and that her and my mum won't be able to afford it. She has also been moaning about how she wants to wear 6 inch heels for bridesmaid shoes, how she has her hair etc. If I choose my cousin will this just complicate things? But at the same time I need some help with organising etc!!

    Thank you

this is awkward situation to be in. you have a few options:

    1. dont have a chief bridesmaid - you dont have to have one
    2. have 2 chief bridesmaids (or a Maid of Honour and Chief Bridesmaid)
    3. Choose one over the other.

which one is older? i dont have this problem as my sister is only 5 lol but perhaps that could be a good reason to choose your cousin instead if she is older or more responsible. Personally if i was having this problem i probably wouldnt have one at all and just keep them both as bridesmaids.

However, it sounds like your cousin is being really helpful without being chief bridesmaid anyway so if you picked your sister then she will still help. And also sounds like your sister will still moan whether you make her Chief Bridesmaid or not. i think tradition says that you pick the sister but its up to you.

Try not to worry about it too much - maybe ask your mom/auntie for advice see what they think xx

Thank you both. My cousin is actually younger but she is brilliant. She is always putting herself out to help. My sister doesn't seem to bothered if I am honest. She is moaning about the Hen do now as well lol

Think your sister is going to moan no matter what you do, so I myself would pick my cousin if I were in your shoes as she's sounding more helpful to you and will probably be even more so if she was given the CB position! Final choice is yours I guess or like Becky has said don't have one just keep them all bridesmaid's then sis has nothing else to moan about! lol. But like I said before its your big day have what you want and enjoy what you have chosen. :) xx

I picked my best friend over my sister as MOH, she wasn't happy about it but I knew my best friend would be more help to me for the wedding planning. I have realised through planning - even this early on that I'm gonna annoy people, so I do what makes me and h2b happy.

If you are worried more about keeping the peace your cousin would probably be fine with not getting the title, and continue to help you - and it may even appease your sister a little bit to be given it. But if I were you I would pick your cousin as she deserves it most :-)

I'd be inclined either to not name a chief bridesmaid at all, or to give the role to both of them. It sounds like your cousin will fulfil the role regardless of whether she has the title or not. It's probably not worth the added stress to give your sister something else to moan about.

It depends how close your family is, but I'd say pick the cousin - it sounds like she's fulfilling the role of CB already.
