Hi girls Has anyone managed to find a cheap honeymoon (as in under a grand pp) that is somewhere a bit special? Everywhere i look at is either over a £1000 each which is way too much for us. We are getting our guests to pay for it but we will have to put some in ourselves so after paying for the wedding we will be broke. Ken has his heart set on Las Vegas but I dont have the heart to tell him we just cant afford it. Sooo back to my question.....where are you all going and did it break your bank?? any help with desinations would be great!xxxx

Were thinkin of going 2 Egypt...got the heat and its realy affordable!
We're going to Malta, for a week and it's cost us just under £1600. That's all inclusive though - you can get a lot cheaper if you go B&B or half board.
CommentAuthorJoey
Think we are going to do that emsy. We are big campers so are going for a few days after the wedding for 'alone' time and then putting the honeymoney we get from everyone to a bigger holiday. Do you think its ok to wait for a BIG honeymoon? It wont take the specialness away? coz thats what im worried about..
Malta looks lush. Ken refuse to go to Egypt after all the trouble... ive always wanted to go though! xx
CommentAuthorLittle Kettle
Do either of you drive and are you old enough to drive out in the US? Maybe you could hire a winnabago (sp??) or another camper van type thingie and do a fly drive thing? It's the accomodation that is so expensive in the US. Our flights were about £550 each. You could pick up in LV then travel up to LA, stopping off at the Grand Canyon etc. on the way, maybe?

I've never been abroad and we'll be taking our son so want somewhere that'll keep him occupied and isnt too hot. Wouldnt suit everyone but we're thinking Tenerife. I've looked through the sandals brochure and tbh I think I'd get bored there anyway (and I dont think kiddiewinkles are allowed) x

Yeah I get the impression that Sandles resorts are 'adult only'. Tenerife sounds like a good option for the reasons you want x

Yeah that's what I thought - wouldnt be at all relaxing if there was nothing for our son to do! We'll maybe do the sandals thing for an anniversary in a few years when I just want to chill too x

We are having 3 nights in Venice then 7 nights in Rome and it came to £599 per person. That includes the flights and hotels etc as well as extra luggage allowance. It depends on what you want but if you just want a nice holiday then you can get something for less. If you tell them its your honeymoon most of them will go for the most expensive rooms etc so the price goes up. You could always book a standard room then let the hotel know before hand its for your honeymoon and you may (not always) get an upgrade. If all else fails and you can't find anything try booking last minute.

hun you can do vegas ....just need to shop around , go for a hotel that is a bit offthe strip ..... you can even do motels which are really cheap ....
You could probably get 2 weeks in Mexico for around £1000 pp All Inclusive, at a 4-5* hotel, depending what time of year you;re travelling; you could also probably get 2 weeks in Cuba or the Dominican Republic for around that figure, again depending on when you're travelling. As all meals and drinks are included, you could maybe stretch the budget a little to get something really special? (at the AIs in Mexico literally EVERYTHING is included: wines and champagne on tap, top-shelf international drinks, 24 hour room service, a la carte dining, etc). Cheapest months to travel are June and September.
Also check out Thomson's Sensatori resorts: they have quite a few now and you could probably get one in Greece or Tenerife for around £1000 for 10 nights; the resorts are really beautiful.
You could also look at renting an apartment or villa somewhere, as this often works out quite reasonable.
I also reckon you could do 7 nights in Vegas on that budget; shop around and price up flights and accommodation separately with someone like (edited aS NO LINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE FORUM)
go to travel supermarket and click holidays then put in your dates and let them "inspire" you. it comes up with all holidays with cheapest first! thats what i will do

Thanks for so many great ideas girls! I think the idea of getting a late deal is a great one. We spoke about it loads last night and we are going to probably stay in europe. But i keep changing my mind hehe.
I think you are right, I just need to do more shopping around and I am going to leave it til last minute (at the moment anyway hehehe)

have you thought about Thailand?? Its SO cheap out there, you dont need all inclusive. Just go for a room only deal or b&b. Just had a look on travel supermarket, and there are loads for about £800 each, and in a 4* hotel in a suite!
I don’t repeat gossip so listen very carefully!!

Have a look at Domican Republic too, when we were looking for ours we were suprised how cheap it was, think there were some deals for under 1k for two people.
We've booked 2 weeks, 5 star all inclusive on one of the Cape Verde Islands, can't wait! x

I think we are going to book ours last minute. No where too fancy as long as hotel is nice and its warmand sunny we dont mind. Will be our sons first holiday abroad too and he will be 2 and a half by then. I have been getting quotes of about 1000-1500 for the three of us all inclusive for a week. Places like spain, greece, cyprus. We dont want to go too far :)
CommentAuthorsuzky123
we have always struggled to find cheap holidays. We went in one year and said 2k (which in our opinion is a substantial budget) for 14 nights.... they couldnt find us anywhere! Yeah right, they just didnt try. The only criteria was 4* plus and could be anywhere worldwide. I thought it odd that we didnt have a big enough budget yeah right.

Well we aren't going abroad but I am so excited about our honeymoon!! We are staying in a log cabin near York. It has a hot tub, huge bed and bath and is totally secluded. It seems so relaxing and romantic. Plus we met in the winter, got engaged in the winter, are getting married in the winter, so somewhere cold seemed more personal. I heard about it on a blog from a lady who also had a winter wedding. She said they were sat in the hot tub surrounded by snow drinking champagne. That sold it for me!! :) x

Nailed where did you buy that, it sounds amazing!!! Joey there are loads of ood deals on Groupn, your posts dont say when you are getting married, and some of them state when in the year you have to go. However I would keep your eye on that. There is a specific thread for groupon deals, but since you specifically asked. Hope this is ok MODs
