I was hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Im putting together a basket of flat shoes for the evening reception, but I have no idea where I should buy them. I'd be looking to spend as little as possible and would like approx. 20 pairs.

Has anyone else done this and where did you buy them from. Checked eBay but couldnt find what I was looking for.

    Thanks

Not really sure where else to suggest hun, I would say try the high street shops, but you'd be looking at a fortune for 20 pairs, unless you can find a lot in the sale somewhere?? What are you using the shoes for hun? personally never heard of this idea xxx

I was going to set up a basket in the ladies with a few bits and bobs. I know loads of women will kick there shoes off during the dancing so was thinking of providing a few pairs of flats or flip flops for them. It was just an idea but won't be spending a fortune on them.

i have to say i thought of doing this then my dad said ..... if people want their feet to be comfortable in the evening they will wear suitable footwear to start off with .. you wouldn't provide extra clothes in case waist band feel to tight would you ? ... lol

needless to say we didnt do it

Lala I was thinking along the same lines. I think many people, if they are planning on wearing heels will take flat shoes along with them anyway. It might be a bit awkward as different sizings, so at first I thought flip flops is great as you go get away a size or two either way with them, but then what if ladies are wearing tights.

I honestly think that maybe you could put your money to better use elsewhere, but then it is your wedding and if that is what you want to do, I'd go to the cheapest place possible.

Lol. I know but there are always eejits that do it and Ive been one of those eejits before. I just think its a nice touch but as I said, won't be spending much on them and if they're coming in too expensive, I will leave it.

Hi - i am hoping to get some flip flops for guests to wear and shall be looking on the bay, primarni & a the £ shops too. Getting nicer ones for my BM's and plain white or pink for the guests. Doing so that it ties in with our seaside / shell theme.

Have to say I agree with lala and Glitter Fairy; we've thought about our guests a lot, but this is where I draw the line lol.

If you do do it, I'd look at flip-flops, as they'll fit a range of sizes (flat pumps won't, so then you have the problem of buying a few pairs in different sizes); that said, I personally find cheap flip-flops super-uncomfortable, and if I did take my shoes off, and hadn't brought a spare pair, I'd just go bare-foot.

I also agree with Lala and GF & Barbie

I dont see why it is something you need to worry about and wouldnt exspect a bride to do this at all.

I cant wear heels for long as tore all my ligaments years ago but when i go to a wedding (got my firends in June) i will either just go bear foot in evening or like oterhs say just have some pumps/flip flops x

I think this is an added cost that really isnt needed, if you want to the go for it but i would feel it odd putting on shoes that werent mine to be honest xx

Great comment about not providing extra clothes for those whose waistbands feel tight!!

Personally I think providing flip flops isn't necessary. Its yet another thing for the bride to organise/worry about. They're all adults who take responsibility for themselves on a daily basis, surely they can use common sense for your wedding day too?

Also, in my 'worry about anything' mode, I would worry that if I provdied flip flps then the girls who were sensible and bought their own flat shoes to change into would feel they ought to wear the ones I provided instead which may not feel as comfy as their own pair. Then I'd have actually made things worse for them!

Plus, (continuing the worry train of thought now)

If you provide flip flops, then those with tights couldn't wear them. Then it might look like you only cared about the comfort of the feet of those girls who don't wear tights. And what about those girls who might have an unsightly something or other on their feet which wouldn't be covered by the flip flops? Would they feel pressured to expose their something or other so it looked like they appreciated your gesture of flip flops?

And would the men feel left out?

Needless to say I won't be providing flip flops... the worry it would cause me just wouldn't be worth it!

Sarah, slipper socks is a great idea. Neatly gets round many of the worrys I've just had!

I wouldn't use flip flops provided at a wedding, but I would use the slipper socks :) They'd be very comfy!

I've actually been trying to find myself a pair of green slipper/snuggle socks to wear for the evening (green/silver wedding) but slipper/snuggle socks don't seem to be available as much as they used to be :(

Sarah, slipper socks are a great idea, will keep an eye out now. Thank you.

I wouldn't be worrying and thinking about it all too much, it's just a gesture for our guests who have made an effort to come to our wedding. Its expensive to be a wedding guest and it's just a little something extra. Then again, I wouldn't be a worrier anyway :)

To be honest, at most weddings I've been to that have had them, no-ones used them - in the words of one guest I overheard 'I didn't spend three hours getting ready to put those flip flops on!'
A bit rude, but a valid point.

However, I think if you can do it with the minimum stress/fuss then go for it, if budget permits! But I wouldn't worry over it too much xx

I agree with others that you should not bother hun. It's the responsibility of you guests to wear comfortable shoes and you'll probably find too that girls bring their own flats if they want to change in the evening. Spend your money on something else xxx
